Undying Walkthrough: Lizbeth

Now you go on your hunt for the first of the corrupted Covenant siblings: Lizbeth.

[O] Standing Stones' Walkthrough Lizbeth: Old Cemetary to Catacombs


OLD CEMETARY
You'll see some scrolls on top of a cross, but you have to go to a totally different area to get them. Explore all through this building to get lots of goodies, then find the tombstone that is lying flat on the ground next to some big cross tombstones. Use the flat one to jump to the others, then walk across the wall tops to get the Arcane Whorl scrolls. After this, head towards the water and jump into the boat.

MONASTERY PRESENT
Go through the rocks and kill some howlers. Go left at the tower (it's locked for now) to get to a closed gate where you can get some inventory. Go back to the tower and turn left. Get the book by the donkey, then continue on and view a cutscene. Kill the two Trsanti, get the key, and fight back to the tower where you get the sun medallion and a chest key. Return to the Trsanti area. Go to the barn doors, fight over to the ladder that goes up and then go to the hole in the barn roof where you can see the other buildings ruins. Jump across, and fight about halfway to the other end (you'll get the shotgun here). Somewhere there, on the side of the ruins closest to the barn, are stairs up and stairs down. Go up to the top floor, and jump across the boards to the end of the building facing where you saw the cutscene. There you'll find a chest, which you'll open with the chest key. Inside is the trapdoor key. Go back to the stairs, and this time go down. Get the stuff behind the cobwebs then open the trapdoor and drop down to the tunnels below. Once in the tunnels, head left through all the skeletons.

MONASTERY EXTERIOR
After the level switch, jump down and continue to the stairs leading up into the ruined monastery. Note the spot immediately to the right of the lowest set of stairs, where Patrick notes in his journal that he'd need something to get through to the area underneath. At the top of the stairs is where you're really inside the ruined monastery itself. Explore every nook and cranny for notes, ammo, and Scrye spots where you can find monks walking around. Of special note is the tower, where if you go up and up (climbing on broken wreckage), you'll find a mana well. As a general rule, once you're done exploring you'll want to sort of continue to bear right, and go upwards. You'll reach a big flat stone area, and at the end you'll head deeper into the monastery.

MONASTERY INTERIOR
Head left towards the shining spot on a far wall. You'll see a Lizbeth cutscene, then enter the buildings to the left. The ground level building has a Scrye scene. Don't waste any ammo trying to kill Lizbeth. Then go back out and take an immediate right down the stairs there. Basically search every nook and cranny of this building. Eventually you'll need to be on the top floor, and in the far far room over a bunch of broken floor boards you'll see the dynamite you need. Also on that top floor, drop down into the fireplace to get an amplifier.

Now exit this building and explore the big open interior area for locked doors and ammo. You'll see an archway that leads to an open area with an amplifier. Grab it then exit the level the way you came in. Go back to the very first flight of steps you took up into the wreckage of the monastery, and use the dynamite to blow a hole through the bricks you can see through into the area below. Drop down in there.

CATACOMBS
Explore thoroughly, and try to open the doors you see. Eventually you'll come to a room with a howler cutscene. Kill them, then go up the slanted plank to the room above. On the wall farthest from the door you came in is a switch that will open a stone secret tunnel with an amplifier. Go through the tunnel, drop down into the storage room, Scrye for the freaky warning about the Undying King, and then walk out of the room. Head right and run like hell, because all the Howlers in this area are set to infinite respawn. You'll run past a bottomless well, and just beyond that is a door leading to the Saints Hall. Once through that door, go up the stairs in front of you, then take your first right and go down those stairs. Jump up on the broken slanted stones to the next level.

This level is a pain once again because the howlers are set on infinite respawn until you reach a certain spot. So once the level starts, just run like hell and use the Gel'ziabar stone to push them out of your way. Keep hitting your Scrye spell, and when you're in the room with the bald monk ghost in the red robe then you've hit the point that shuts off the howler respawners. Of course at this point you've got five regular howlers and one tough green one that you have to kill somehow :) The best thing is probably to back into a corner, use the stone to push the howlers away,and keep blasting them with the Ectoplasm spell. Anyway, kill 'em somehow, and then open the chest you see to get the Silver Key and the Time Incantation. Go back to where you entered this level.

Now continue on, where you'll have to fight howlers and undead saints (skeletons). Basically run through until you come to the door that takes you to the next level. It's got a square silver thing on it that looks like a big keyhole. Remember, even though we don't specify each and every one, all through these levels are goodies like health and dynamite and stuff, plus lots of fun Scrye scripted sequences (none of which really matter as far as being able to finish the game).

Through that door is a long set of corridors, that eventually end in a room with some barrels. Stay on your toes and you'll survive this little spot. Once you've killed all the howlers, change your shorts again and go into the room you'll see beyond with the staircases. Scrye will show you the Abbot locking some doors under the staircases. Go up one set of stairs, and you'll see two doors (one locked, and one broken down), and more stairs leading up to a stone slab. Through the broken door is a wheel you should turn. This will partially open the slab that will eventually move completely out of the way to allow you to go outside. Anyway, go back down the stairs now and continue to the left.

You'll see a Trsanti get nailed with a bunch of spears... run and jump across the hallway, and hug that wall as you continue on and you'll be able to escape the spear traps. Through the door and down a ramp will bring you into more Undead Saint territory. Either explore, find stuff, and get your ass beat a lot or just keep making rights then lefts until you go through some cobwebs and up a ramp to exit that level. In the next room is a broken column that you climb up into another room. You'll see another hole leading down, and some stairs up. Run fast as you can up those stairs since the howlers won't stop coming until you're at the top, and use the Gel'ziabar stone to push aside any howlers you see. At the top you can dispose of the howlers behind you. Continue on, and use Scrye to see the monk operate the hidden pushblock that opens the box with the Monastery key and the Mercury Flask. Go back the way you came, and drop down into that hole you skipped the first time. Go through, and after the cutscene with Lizbeth follow where she went. You'll see a door with a golden keyhole that will open with the Monastery Key.

From here, just explore the tunnels and kill all the howlers. Drop down into the open room, kill more howlers, and go up the stairs. Turn the wheel, go up and out the stairs to the outside, and explore. You'll find lots of inventory items, and also a lake with three pedestals on each side. Go up to each pedestal and you'll automatically place the correct item. End up at the middle pedestal to perform the time incantation and see the badass reflection that appears in the lake. Jump in.

MONASTERY PAST
You're now on the grounds of the same monastery you just went through, only now it's intact and still occupied by the original monks. This first level seems confusing with lots of nooks and crannies, but it's actually very linear, with only one exit. Explore the exterior to fight some monks and get some inventory. You'll eventually come to a small archway that leads inside the monastery walls. To orient yourself, just right of this archway is a building, and just to the right of that building are the steps you first walked up to get into the monastery in the future, and also right where you dropped the dynamite to get into the catacombs. Go through the arch, left for inventory then back to the arch and right to go to those steps, to get more stuff. Then continue on up deeper into the monastery grounds. You'll wind of on the big flat open area you'd been on before, and use Scrye to see a monk jump off the cliff to his death. Continue down to the end and up through the doors. On the other side is the spot you had been in before, where to the left you saw a bright light up on a wall that led to a cutscene with Lizbeth jumping from wall to wall and throwing rocks at you.

Explore the entire outside part of the monastery interior here to get a bunch of health packs, but don't go through any doors. Come back to the place you entered this level, then go straight a head a little bit to the door you see. Enter it, it'll change levels, and then go up the stairs that are right in front of you. This part is very linear, but exploring rooms and side areas will get you an amplifier and health and some interesting notes. Eventually you'll come to a tight winding staircase that goes down (ignore the door near the bottom that leads to the outside). You'll wind up in a room with a dragons head spitting water into a trough. Go up the stairs there, and you'll come to a room with two doors (one is in the dark and hard to see) and an empty fireplace. In this room near where you came in is a switch that shuts off the water in the other room you were just in. Conntinue up the stairs to a prayer room with a bed and desk. Jump up onto the desk and knock the book over that's on the shelf: This opens a secret passage back down where that water was. Go there to get a mana well. Now return to the room where you flipped the switch to shut off the water, and go through the left dark doorway (not the one closest to the empty fireplace). You'll come to a room full of desks. Don't bother going down the stairs in front of you, just go through to the other side. In the next room to the right are more Arcane Whorls, and then go left to go into the tower.

Go to the top of the tower, kill the Abbot, and get the Abbot key. Then go back to where you just go the Arcane Whorls, and go down the stairs in the next room. Once you're outside, go towards the big main church. Look left of the big church doors and you'll see a smaller door. Go in, use the Abbot key on another door inside, and eventually you'll get to an Abbot guarding the Gold Key. Grab it, and then go back and you'll see an open window that you'll want to go through. Just to the left is a little wall, that leads to some little steps where you can go up and over the front of the church (don't jump down to the ground). On the far side of the church to the left you'll see an amplifier up on the roof. Use the obvious path to get the amplifier, then from that roof head towards the front of the church. You'll see an open window in the tower that you want to go through and go into the church interior.

Kill all the monks and the abbot inside, and go up to the Scythe on the altar. Go to the stairs on the right and flip the lever that's at the top. Grab the Scythe.

MONASTERY PRESENT
Go back to where you'd opened the sliding trapdoor to get out of the catacombs, and head back down.

CATACOMBS LOWER LEVEL
At the base of the double staircase there you can now use the gold key to descend farther. Follow the stairs down to the right, and then at the bottom go to the right and head back up. You'll hear an amplifier in a hidden room, which is accessed by the candles nearby. Back down at the bottom you can jump up on a pillar to get a note from a dead Trsanti, then further on you'll come to a spot with a passage to the left, locked doors to the right, and rubble in front of you.

If you want another amplifier and mana well, go through the hole you'll find in the rubble (move fast since the cieling falls). Explore the space beyond and eventually you'll go through a door to a room with a big wheel on the floor and square blocks with symbols on the walls. Shoot the blocks that correspond to the closest symbol on the wall, and at the top grab the goodies. Leave the room, go back to the floor below, and eventually you'll find the door to exit back to where the rubble was. Go straight beyond the doors, talk to Lizbeth, then jump down into the hole.

CATACOMBS CISTERNS
Climb up out of the cistern. Go to the small door to left first, get the amplifier, and then go to the other small door and flip the switch at the top. Back down again, and flip the switch to open the big door. Flip the switch on the other side to close it again which will save you from being attacked from behind. Cross the bridge (quickly): don't jump down or you'll die. Open the next big door, fight the undead saints, and run up the stairs to the left and throw the switch. Watch from the open window as the well fills up below, but don't jump in yet. Go back down the stairs, where the cistern is now almost empty. Jump in, and climb up the grate into the hole there, so you can grab the Arcane Whorls inside. Now go jump off the bridge and exit the level.

In the following section you'll be in a bunch of passages blocked with iron grates, that will quickly open to let a howler through and then shut again. The key is to get through the gate while it's open, because otherwise they'll just release an endless stream of howlers. Anyway, go down the first steps and into the room where you see Lizbeth. Go up to her to trigger the conversation, then run and stand next to the grate to the right. When it eventually opens, run through. In the room beyond is a circular thing you want to jump on and then get back down on the ground, and go down the steps when they appear. In the next room stand next to the left grate and run through when it opens. Pass through the wood doors you'll find.

CATACOMBS TUNNELS
You'll go down a passage and see another cutscene with Lizbeth where she tells you to attack her. Since the floor will fall away when you do, what you need to do is get as far left as possible, because when you fall to the floor below you've only got a second to move or else THAT floor will fall away too. Anyway, now walk forward and when you fall to the floor below immediately turn left and jump over the howlers waiting there and run as fast as you can to the lighted passageway you see. Switch to the Scythe and continue through (ignore the floor grate that opens) to the Lizbeth battle.

CATACOMBS LAIR OF LIZBETH
After the cutscene, stay in this room. Avoid Lizbeth and use invoke on the Undead Saints, and then run back up the stairs you first came down. Keep using the Scythe on Lizbeth until she starts glowing white, then do your best to avoid her attacks while still wacking her with the scythe. WHen the white glow fades she'll stand there dazed for a second; run up, carefully aim at her head, and behead her with the scythe. No need to have the scythe in the 'powered up' state, either.

After she's dead, explore (avoid the spell scroll for now) and get all the various goodies you'll find. Then go get the scroll.
