New maps for Railrock's Egypt Mappack! - Update by Gwog
Great news, more playable Undying... Railrock has completed map #2 for his egyptian map pack, and released a revised zip file with the first and second full maps, along with a small placeholder third map (mostly to avoid the error message that comes up at the end of a level). He's currently working on the full third map, to be released hopefully soon. You can click on the image below to check out a shot from this new level, and then click here to get the full download (2.8 MB). Once you've done that, then hit this forum thread to give Railrock your impressions.

Undying Curse help wanted announcement - Update by Gwog
Here it is, straight from the howler's mouth:
A Cry for Help
Once again, the time to recruit has come, and this is due to the
'Production Pipeline' of UT2004. We really need Modellers with
experience of 3DSMax or Maya to create the Static Meshes required by the
mappers. It will also benefit us to have the knowledge of importing
Skeletal Meshes into Unreal for weapons, players etc.
In addition to this we would like to suplement our Texture & Sound
devisions with an extra person in each team.
Please e-mail your applications for any of these positions to
daemonica@sanffo.co.uk with examples of your existing work.

First Map of new map pack - Update by Gwog
Good news comes at a welcome time from Martin "Railrock" Sabel, in the form of (Update: the following download is now for a zip that contains the first AND second maps of this pack) egyptstart.zip. This 3.3 2.8 MB file contains the first small map of Railrock's egyptian-tomb-themed map-pack. Once you've got it downloaded and played, make sure to hit the forums and tell Railrock what you think.
I bad, bad highpreast is doing bad, bad things in his tomb. So enter his realm, fight bad, bad man, armed to their thieth on the upper levels and eventualy hungry ghouls and other undead lurkers in the lower levels, and finely, find him and kick his ass.
Undying Curse goodies and news - Update by Gwog
Undying Curse, the mod for UT2004, is still going strong over at their site. Argentium Thri'ile has been posting regular news updates, and there is even a new wallpaper showing their really tasty new logo (click on 'Media & Downloads', then 'Wallpaper'). Stop by the site and look around, and since they are recruiting, see if you or anyone you know might want to help out.
Q&A with Undying designer - Update by Gwog
Good stuff here, fans.... Dellekamp Siefert, Lead Designer for Undying, swung by our messageboards a few months ago to answer any questions that fans might have had. You can check out the thread (now pretty much defunct, unfortunately) here.
Undying + 4 other games: $19.99 - Update by Gwog
Thanks to Undying programmer Richard Benson for pointing out (a painfully long time ago, heh) that GoGamer is selling the Vault of Darkness pack for twenty bucks that contains Undying, Alice, Dungeon Keeper II, and a couple crappy Dracula games. Here's your chance to hook your friends and family on what is arguably the best game Electronic Arts ever published.
News archived - Update by Gwog
I figured I could hide how long it has been since my last update by shoving everything into the archive, heh, so click the link at the bottom of the page to get access to the old stuff.
So... the Standing Stones slowdown - Update by Gwog
I'm sure most long-time Undying fans pretty much knew it was coming... at some point there would be just almost nothing going on. In addition, my own free time that I use to run sites has been severely compressed, and what was left has been spent on other pursuits. But I still get the occasional email and news item, so I figured I would take one last stab at updating things again. This would be a good time for feedback emails, forum activity, and whatever else would help show that Undying still lives! I'll be on vacation for the next couple of weeks, but will be attempting to clean up the site once I get back (thanks to everyone that has sent emails about various links and things that are broken).

New Fanfic - Update by Gwog
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water... Gehn has come through with a second chapter in his Kiss of Oblivion fanfic. Entitled "The Fall of Alakia", this newest chapter brings you more of the events that Kamen has become intwined within.
Kamen was familiar of the superstition of his people, especially the myth of those that have blue eyes can see into the hearts of men and are arbitrators of their fate. He did not believe in such foolishness, even though he himself was a prophet. “Surely you did not--” Kamen started, but Telsin held up a hand. “How foolish do you think I am Kamen?, she does possess the beauty of a goddess but to put it simply she is beyond me”.

Quick: New Uploader version! - Update by Gwog
Burt sent the word that he had already made a new version of the uploader mentioned yesterday available on his website, so here's the new on from FilePlanet.
- Fixed bugs with lauching maps with same names but from different categories
- Added ability to configure loader for different map packs, all mappack files will be listed in separate category. Default configuration includes "Clive Barker's Undying Base Maps", "Family Grave Maps" and "Two Stand Alone Maps".
- Added "Find" string at the bottom of list. Really nice tool! Finds map in a tree by first letters of file name.

New FanFiction: Jeremiah Vignette - Update by Gwog
Lucky for us, dr_coma recently found some time and has brought another of his vignettes on the individual Covenant family members. This time it is Jeremiah himself under the most scrutiny, although certain other recognizeable names make an appearance.
As Jeremiah dropped his emptied pistol and brought out his knife he saw Patrick from the corner of his eye take aim at the shaman…and then time slowed. A flash of green light erupted from the stone and Patrick was thrown to the ground, his body seared and smoking. Jeremiah looked from his fallen friend to the shaman, who was staring at Patrick like a predator gloating over its kill. The roar of battle had become a muffled groan. Nothing seemed to exist other than Jeremiah and the Trsanti shaman. Their eyes met, and Jeremiah raised his arm to throw the knife.
Different Maploader - Update by Gwog
Hell, I recommend you download this even if it's just to play with the little skull eyes that glow red when you select a map! Out of the blue Burt has provided a new, different map loader from the reliable workhouse Daemonica first gave us so long ago. Take a look at the cool shot and then give this toy a spin.

Yikes, has it really been a month since the last update? Sorry to all visitors and contributors for the downtime... real life and hobby time has kept me away. But look for a couple cool updates over the next day or so... got some new fanfic, got a new maploader, and some fanart. Happy New Year!

Christmas Fan Fiction - Update by Gwog
Well, the the Christmas competition for fan fiction has officially ended, and here are the final entries. Enjoy!
Below is the link to forumgoer ARMorgan's piece, a nice little razor-in-the-stocking for anyone who enjoys an adult tone and a keen edge on their wordplay.
“Come” Aaron said and he turned to steal the light. With it he went out, seeming to float as he receded into the dark, the lights of the candelabra not even bobbing on their roost.
You'll laugh and you'll cry, but hopefully won't recognize your family setting in this fun item from Raevynlocks and Athena.
JEREMIAH: "Be patient."
AMBROSE: "Shut up, Jeremiah! That’s what I’ve always hated about you--you’re just like Father was, always trying to tell the rest of us what to do!"
JEREMIAH: "But all I said was--"
BETHANY: *angrily* "Enough!"
*Ambrose and Jeremiah are silent*
*Lizbeth finally seductively saunters into the room*
LIZBETH: "Good evening, everyone. I do hope I didn’t keep you waiting very long." *Her dress is almost completely covered in blood* "Do you like what I’ve done with my dress? It’s the holiday season, after all. I thought a red dress would be so much more fitting given the time of year." *smiles wickedly*

New Fan Fiction - Update by Gwog
Two new pieces of fan fiction have been made available for you today, one related to the Christmas competition and one not.
Gehn, scribe for the Undying-to-UT2003 (see below) mod The Undying Curse, is up first with this piece that isn't quite what it seems at first glance.
A sense of macabre unreality would always overtake him then, and even now he was paralyzed in fear. Glimpsing upwards in the semi-darkness and gasping, he saw grimy, slime-slick walls reaching up into an infinite blackness. Home.
Next up is katran, giving old Moore a little graveish spin with her take on you-know-what...
“Now Howlers, now Jemmas, now Monto Shonoi,
Now Dri’nen and Scarrow, go kill that boy!
To the top of the gables, to the midst of the hall,
Now slash away, rip away, shred away all!!”
Undying Curse to UT2003 - Update by Gwog
The upcoming mod The Undying Curse, formely intending to bring Undying goodness to Unreal Tournament, has now switched to the more modern Unreal Tournament 2003. Best of luck to the crew on carrying through what was probably a tough decision!

Two Stand Alone RELEASED - Update by Gwog
Do not ask, JUST GO!.
Otto Keisinger, a man whose prowess in the dark arts is unparalleled. A man who is respected and feared by anyone who crosses his path. A man who was a close friend and my mentor. A man who has become my mortal enemy.
Our paths have crossed many times over the years and each time the result has been frustratingly the same. Just as I clutch victory in my grasp, he slips away. Though this time I was certain that I had ended his tyranny. I saw him plummet into the eternal fires in the pyramid in Oneiros and his lifeless body burst into flames.
Yet, we meet again on this ancient isle of portals. Portals as old as time itself. How did he survive his plummet? Where do these portals lead? What interest does Keisinger have in them? These are just a few of the questions that race through my mind as I stand facing him and these portals. Yet my path is clear. His reign of evil and death must end. Keisinger must finally perish.
~ Patrick Galloway
That's right, a new playable map pack. Not just any pack, though... this is a 23 MB monstrosity with an unbelievable amount of maps. It took me three weeks to play through in my (admittedly limited) spare time, and in that time I was continually blown away by the massive size of the game spaces and scope of what Xiolab and Cabela accomplished. Congrats to these two amazing guys who took the original Community Map Pack concept, stuck with it through the loss of members and an amazing time lapse of 16 months, and made it through to the release.
Make sure you get this downloaded, played thoroughly, and then hit the comment thread for Two Stand Alone to give the authors your feedback. It's a great day for Undying fans!

New Fan Fiction: Malachai - Update by Gwog
Good things come in small packages, and this new item from A.R. Morgan is no exception.
Feeling them travel one way then the other as they peel off layer after layer of skin and muscle, revealing secret parts of your anatomy you never knew you had, breeds a sort of intimacy between you and them.
Take a look at the piece and then hit this link to give the author some feedback.
Lizbeth Miniature - Update by Gwog
I'm guessing that there are very few people that visit this front page that don't also visit the forums, so the following bit may not come as a complete surprise (if you DO visit this page but DON'T visit the forums, you're really missing out on a much more active environment). Either way, a forum newcomer named Green_howler showed up a while ago, talking about how he was in the process of commissioning a freelance sculptor to create some Undying figurines for himself. Well, the first one is here! Enjoy the shots of the Lizbeth figurine below, and then tell Green_howler what you think in the figurine thread.
Christmas Fanfic Competition - Update by Gwog
Been looking for that one thing that finally pushed you over the edge and got you joining the ranks of all the recent Standing Stones fan fiction authors? Well maybe this will do the trick. Forum participants and fanfic authors have decided that it might be fun to give Christmas a little coat of Covenant paint, which I'm sure has a distinctly crimson hue. Hit that thread for the ins and outs, then make sure your item is in to me before the end of December.
Teasing... - Update by Gwog
While the site has been languishing, I can at least say that I've been working in some fashion... you see, there is something very nice coming very soon, and I was fortunate enough to have spent the last few weeks in 'the belly of the beast' so to speak. If you don't understand now, you will...

New fan fiction: The Dream - Update by Gwog
Athena is the next to join our ever-growing list of authors, pens dipped in howler blood to scratch out stories from the horror wrought by the sins of the Covenants. Enjoy her piece, entitled The Dream, wherein Jeremiah's slumber brings him into contact with creatures who's depravity is matched only by their hideous familiarity.
He didn’t know how he got there, yet when he stopped running he found himself standing alone in the darkened smoking room. Breathing hard from exertion, Jeremiah slumped into the nearest armchair and laid the book on his lap, then felt about in the pockets of his robe for his pipe and the ever-present pack of matches. He lit one, touched it to the bowl...and froze.
In the flame’s brief life, he had seen something approaching him.
He was no longer alone in the smoking room.
Excuses, Excuses - Update by Gwog
Undying King-sized apologies to readers and site contributors for the recent downtime. There are some great things waiting in the wings, some of them that have been waiting for too long, that I haven't been able to get to because of new computer hassles, business trips, and these little kids that keep insisting on waking up at 5:30a.m. when I'm trying to get something (ANYTHING) done. These next few days should get me caught up, so anyone that still actually has any patience left, well, it's appreciated.

Fanfic: Lizbeth Covenant Family Vignette - Update by Gwog

Fanfic: Eden's Sorrow Chapter One - Update by Gwog
The story continues, with Chapter One now available from dr_coma. This new piece brings us back to a scene that will be familiar to some and just ring a bell for others.
Despite the lack of adequate lighting the enormity of the hall was not lost upon Patrick. A wide staircase with ornate railings swept up to a landing where an immense beveled glass window overlooked the hall. Everywhere he looked Patrick noticed signs of superior craftsmanship, from the carvings on the columns to the beams of the vaulted ceiling to the inlays on the paneled walls. As he followed the maid up the stairs he could not help but wonder at the cost of such luxury.

Return to Maddness: Part 2 RELEASED - Update by Gwog
Oh, happy day, new EddX maps to play! That's right, fiends, more playable goodness has arrived. Enjoy this twisted trip, then hit the RTMp2 thread to give with some feedback.
The Story:
After discovering that Otto and dark forces are still very much a part of your life, and that you are caught up in a curse called The Eternal Vengence, you return to Oneiros to seek the Great Library and to try and return to Otto's stronghold. In part 2 you have just emerged from a portal with many questions unanswered...
GameSpy Agrees: UNDYING Underrated - Update by Gwog
EddX pointed out in the forums that GameSpy has included UNDYING at #11 in their list of the most Underrated games. Delsyn, slowdrag, and hardcore_pawn all toss in some love, so check it out.
Undying wasn't something you played, it was something you experienced, and when it was over, you not only had the satisfaction of beating the über-bad guy, you also had a good memory of being told a great horror story.

Eden's Sorrow: Prologue - Update by Gwog
A new piece of Undying fan fiction has surfaced, in the form of the Prologue to a larger series of upcoming stories entitled Eden's Sorrow, by forum regular dr_coma. Here is a brief cut from the larger work that reveals an event hinted at in the game itself:
When it was over Jeremiah found himself seated with the others in the long shadows of the five standing stones, shivering in the cold breeze that blew off the water. Evening had fallen and the vestiges of dusk glowed on the horizon. From where he sat he could see the distant lantern that hung at the end of the dock, its light like a ghostly beacon. No doubt the servants were combing the grounds of the estate in search of him and the others, worried sick at their absence. A cold dread lay coiled in Jeremiah's gut and he knew it was not simply from guilt, it was the fact that he had done something terrible and unpardonable by taking his siblings to the island and reading from the mysterious book.
In anticipation of the eventual release of the remainder of Eden's Sorrow, in addition to celebrating the items that are already available, I've opened a Fan Fiction section. All Undying fans are encouraged to submit items for inclusion herein.
Undying Curse updates - Update by Gwog
There have been several important and exciting updates added to the now-working site for the upcoming modification The Undying Curse, including:
- New screenshots of a map in progress by none other than Gibdo, the sole architect of the astonishing Family Grave map pack.
- Some story elements have been revealed by The Monks of Trell-Sebek author Gehn.
- A forum has been added
- A new team member has been added
Head on over to the site and dig into some of these new goodies, then hop onto the team's forum and give them some encouragement.

Gibdo's Macabre Mansion - Update by Gwog
Got 9.7MB of something that's "not what you'd think" according to master Gibdo himself. Care to face the scares? Then grab yourself some Macabre Mansion and see how you measure up. Make sure to read the readme.txt first in order to get detailed loading instructions (and I suggest getting the new Undying Loader version below).
New Undying Loader - Update by Gwog
Gibdo has been hard at it, and in addition to new playable goodies (see above, duh) he's also released a new version (1.3.0) of the Undying Loader. This utility acts as a great map launcher, and is a MUST for the Undying fan. Get the new version here (40KB).

Keebler Returns! - Update by Gwog
Undying programmer Richard "Keebler" Benson has returned to his flock here at Standing Stones, by way of his usual helpful and friendly posts to the messageboard. Everyone stop by and say hello.
Hey guys,
Glad to see the site is still here at all :)
I've been away for months, but thought i'd stop in. But even if I don't frequent the boards, I am still available at rbenson@earthlink.net for any questions.

Nothing carries me through the day like the thought that somewhere out there, a skilled mapper is hard at work on some more great Undying levels. All cower before EddX, who is done with his short (*cough*) vacation and has returned to working on the next part of Return to Madness. We've put together a page with ten new screenshots, right here.

New Map Pack: Seul Choix - Update by Gwog
Undying fans will be pleased to note that a new three-map pack has been released. Head to this link and click on the word Undying in the upper left hand corner. This will bring you to another page where you can click on the link at the bottom to download the files. Users should note that you will need to have WinRAR installed in order to unarchive the map pack.
From Beyond screenshots - Update by Gwog
Railrock sent some screens a while back that we've been slow to get posted. But without further ado, enjoy this peek at his upcoming project From Beyond.
New project underway: Dreamcatcher - Update by Gwog
Gehn sent word of his new project for Undying, entitled Dreamcatcher. If you've got a hankering to work on a community add-on, this might be for you so click the man's name and send an email. Here's his full note:
I am sending this email to announce my add-on/sequel to Undying, entitled 'Dreamcatcher'. The storyline is coming along nicely, but I am in dire need of mappers, artists, java programmers, programmers, as well as sound coordinators. The sequel will still require Undying to play, but will be a game in its own right. Thank you for your interest.
Gehn
Some Apple-ishious goodies - Update by Gwog
Thanks to Dan K for tossing a couple items my way. First up is this bit about the Mac version of Undying. Next up is a Quicktime teaser of Undying for the Mac version.
Italian Translation needs help - Update by Gwog
Got the word that an Italian crew is working on doing a translation of the game and could use some help from english speakers. A knowledge of Italian won't be necessary, you'll just be listening to game .wav files and transcribing them in English into text files. If you'd like to help bring Undying to our Italian bretheren, hit this link and sign up.
Good luck to Hobbes - Update by Gwog
Just wanted to send a quick 'good luck' to former site administrator Hobbes... he's joined the Air Force and headed off to seek his fortune. Hobbes has been a huge part of the Undying community, not just as a critical member of this site but also as a mapper and tutorial writer. I'm sad to see him go, but am very grateful for having made his aquaintance.
News Archived - Update by Gwog
We've archived the older news posts since they were starting to pile up. Not that cleanliness is a priority for me... it's just that I'm on dialup and the page was taking too long to load :) The link below will take you to the oldies but goodies if you're interested.
