Texture Pack and Demo Map - Update by Hobbes
Forum frequenter Acidtrance has sent this in to us; a brand new texture pack featuring WW1-era Paris urban textures and a demo map showing them off. Acid explains:

I've sent you some custom textures and a little demo-map that I was working on. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be getting around to completing the project. So I'm sending these to you in the event that one of Standing Stone's excellent mappers may be working on a mission in an urban setting.
You can nab it here. (1.83 mb)

New Undying Map: The Big Head - Update by Gwog
The Might Jaspos has returned! The first person to ever release a user-created Undying map has just posted up a brand new second map! (and be sure you use v1.2 of the Undying Map Loader, mentioned in the next news item).

New version of the Undying Map Loader - Update by Gwog
Daemonica wasn't content to just create an application to solve the #1 most asked techsupport question ("How do I play the community maps?") by creating the Undying Map Loader... he also went and added a bunch of great new features. Head on over and grab version 1.2 of the Undying Map Loader now, and check out the goods.
    VERSION 1.2 BUGFIXES AND FEATURES
  • Added an option to 'Play Original' that will Simply start undying
  • Added a Tasktray Icon
  • Added Command Line Options '--nosplash' to bypass splash screen and '--hide' to just load the tasktray icon (usefull for Startup shortcut)
  • Added option to 'Refresh' directory list incase you add maps while Undying Loader is running.
  • Add links to the Official Undying Site, Standing Stones, Standing Stones Forums and Undying Realms websites.
  • Added 'Options' to type in additional command line switches when starting Undying
  • Defaults to filtering out 'Retail Maps' in a basic way (eg. Filters Oneiros_*), added option to 'Show Retail Maps'
    KNOWN BUGS
  • The Unded & Unded2 buttons only start Unded/Unded2 (respectivly) but do not open the map
  • When you select 'Show all maps' it won't load the right one.
Note that you will probably need these Visual Basic libraries (about 1 MB) to run the loader.

Activate the Undying Console - Update by Gwog
Well waddya know! Occasional forum visitor (and tormentor who told us he got Undying multiplayer and bots working, and then never said another word about it :P) eagleAR stopped by the forums to point out a way to get a console working in Undying! Here are his instructions (users are cautioned that we haven't thoroughly tested this, can't be sure it doesn't break something somewhere, use at your own risk, etc).
in the System\System.ini if we change this
[UWindow.WindowConsole]
ConsoleKey=0

to
[UWindow.WindowConsole]
ConsoleKey=192

From one of the minds behind The Undying Realms mod for Undying comes something we've needed for quite some time: an Undying Map Loader!

This tiny (140 KB) download packs a big punch... making it very easy to launch community-made and even retail Undying maps. Grab the file, and be sure to check out the readme for instructions. *IMPORTANT* This program was made using Visual Basic. In order to run, you will probably need to install the VB libraries onto your computer. The 1 MB file can be downloaded from FilePlanet here.

Undying Realms Progress - Update by Gwog
Apparently things have been going very well for the Undying Realms team. Stopping by their news page, I noticed several updates. In addition to the cool map loader mentioned above, they have put together a Progress page, listed the contents of an upcoming Alpha2 release, and also make mention of the recent release of ArcAngel's Queen map. Cool stuff!

Lost Hours article includes Undying - Update by Gwog
Kaigen, another staff writers for PlanetDeusEx and a personal friend of mine, has written a great new article for Lost Hours, the game-specific site for the awesome movie rumor site Coming Attractions. This article, entitled The Top 5 Video Games of 2001 You May Have Missed, has Undying right there at the top!
It’s also one of the few games I can say was genuinely frightening. I couldn’t count on both hands and feet how many times I felt my heart rate increase at the mere sound of the tortured cry of a howler or a whisper in the darkness from an unknown source.

New Archived - Update by Gwog
Stupid Windows 98 only allows you to have Notepad text files open to a certain size, and then it says you don't have enough memory :) If it wasn't for that I'd NEVER archive this stuff!
