1. Introduction to Shipyards

Shipyards are one of the major additions to Darkspace in the v1.481 patch. Just what are shipyards? They are your LIFELINE. Just why you ask? Now all ships above frigate class (including supply ships) now require one of these shipyards and the resources needed to build that ship. Without shipyards, you are a very, very doomed faction.

These shipyards are demanding on the resources to even build them, weighing in at the requirements of 30 Workers, 60 Power, 2500 Metals, and 500 Heavy Metals. So you cant just build them on any random planet, they have to be built specially for a shipyard.

2. The Importance of Shipyards
As I said, Shipyards are the lifelines to any faction now. And now that many gates in the new Metaverse have been removed, you'd get sick of jumping manually system to system. With a fully built shipyard planet, you can instantly spawn at the frontline shipyard and get straight to the battle instead of spawning from your Home Gate.

3. Resource Requirements
Oh, don't think you're getting let off easy now. These ships require planet resources and technology levels to produce new warships! (Note: Resources are not used if you are spawning a ship already in storage) And they are very demanding amounts of resources, so everyone cant just spawn in a ship now. Here's a list of the resources needed per ship.

4. Strategy
Now, Shipyard planets are best built where planets are not clustered next to each other, or risk being destroyed by the planet exiting the shipyard. Terran type planets are best fit for Shipyards, though all types can be made to work with them, although some are inefficient as shipyards.
