Playable Characters
Link
Link is the well-known hero from the Legend of Zelda series whose sole occupation (it seems) is to save Princess Zelda from the evil clutches of Ganon/Ganondorf. In Smash Bros, Link is dressed in his classical green tunic, and he is equipped with his original arsenal of bombs, boomerang, and bow & arrows. Furthermore, his character is modeled off Adult Link from Ocanina of Time (N64), which is evident from his Hylian Shield and Master Sword. Link enters each match through teleportation.
Costumes
Light Blue Link
Link first wore this costume in The Legend of Zelda (NES) after he obtained the Blue Ring, which improved defense.
Blue Link
Link wore his blue costume several times throughout his adventures. He first wore this costume in A Link to the Past (SNES) after acquiring the blue tunic. In Link's Awakening (GBC version), Link had he option of obtaining a Blue Tunic (which increased defense) from the Secret Dungeon. In Ocarina of Time (N64), Zora's Tunic allowed Link to breathe underwater. In Four Swords (GBA) and Four Swords Adventure (GC), blue was one of four costume colors for Link.
Red Link
Link wore his red costume several times throughout his adventures. Link first wore this costume in The Legend of Zelda (NES) after he obtained the Red Ring. He wore it in The Adventure of Link (NES) after he had cast the Shield magic spell. In Link's Awakening (GBC version), Link had he option of obtaining a Red Tunic (which increased attack) from the Secret Dungeon. In Ocarina of Time (N64), Goron's Tunic allowed Link to tolerate intense heat. In Four Swords (GBA) and Four Swords Adventure (GC), red was one of four costume colors for Link.
Items
Heart Container
In all Zelda games, heart containers added an extra heart to Link's life-bar. Additionally, in most games Link could acquire four pieces of hearts to make a full heart container.
Stages
Hyrule Castle
The Royal Family rule the land of Hyrule from this castle. Link has sneaked into Hyrule Castle on a few occasions (A Link to the Past [SNES] and Ocarina of Time [N64]).
» Appearances
Tornado - In The Legend of Zelda (NES), Link could use his whistle to summon a tornado (more like a whirlwind) to transport him to the next dungeon.
Thanks to DementedCow for pointing this out.
Death Mountain - In The Legend of Zelda (NES), Spectacle Rock in Death Mountain was the original location of Ganon's dungeon.
