In the creation of Super Smash Brothers Melee, the second installment of the SSB series, Nintendo seems to have stuck with this theory: Don't mess too much with a good thing.
SSBM is basically the same as SSB.
The fighting is exactly the same, and many of the old levels are back, though much better looking.
Although the game is very similar to SSB, some changes have been made, the most obvious being the sleek new graphics, which take use of the powerful GCN.
Also, some new Melee modes have been added such as the Giant and Tiny Melee.
You'll also be able to pick a character and try to set record in a few new 1P mini-games.
While this is fun when no-one is around, the thing that still shines about this game is the multiplayer mode.
Yes, that's right, the classic SSB battles. You've got the classic fights, the new modes, the new worlds, and the new characters.
It's easy to get some friends, play for hours, and rot your brain.
The controls, graphics, and all around fun nature of this game make it simply addicting.
