1. Trouble King
Your Character Mario
Ally None
Opponent Bowser
Stage Special Stages: Battlefield
Lives 2 each
Time Limit None
Winning Strategy
Win the round by KO`ing your opponent.
Guide
Match 1 is a simple, training level for you to get used to the battles set up for you. As Mario, all you have to do is KO Bowser twice, before he does the same to you. You have all the time you need, so feel free to soften him up with basic attacks, then launch him off the stage with a smash attack, or throw him off. If Bowser tries to return, use your fireballs to keep him away. Simple.
2. Lord of the Jungle
Your Character Donkey Kong (giant-sized)
Ally None
Opponent Donkey Kong (tiny-sized)
Stage DK Island: Kongo Jungle
Lives 2 each
Time Limit 3:00
Winning Strategy
Win the round by KO`ing your opponent.
Guide
Well, you get to be a giant DK, and you get to fight a tiny DK. Sounds easy, right? Think again. While you try to hit the little guy, he’ll be jumping all over you. Just remember to stay on the main platform, and use low attacks to keep him at a distance. If he jumps up to one of the middle platforms, you’ll be able to connect with your Giant Punch. Charge up and let it go! Just KO him once more, before you lose two lives.
3. Bomb Fest
Your Character Any
Ally None
Opponent Link, Samus Aran
Stage Mushroom Kingdom: Princess Peach's Castle
Lives 1 each
Time Limit None
Winning Strategy
Win the round by KO`ing your opponent.
Guide
This match will be explosive, to say the least. Select the character of your choice, and square off against Link and Samus. Simple enough, but this is why it’s called Bomb-fest:
  • Bob-ombs and mines and will be raining onto the battlefield without end. Watch your step.
  • Poke Balls containing only Electrode can also be found in the stage.
  • Bullet Bills will be constantly launching at the castle, so when you hear one approach, back off. Or throw someone into the resulting maelstrom of fire.
  • Link and Samus are competent fighters enough, but they will rely mainly on their bomb attacks to defeat you.
You may want to choose a heavy fighter that can endure explosions, but as long as you stay at far range and toss bombs and Poke Balls at them, you will do fine.
4. Dino Wrangling
Your Character Any
Ally None
Opponent Yoshi (giant-sized)
Stage Yoshi's Island: Yoshi's Story
Lives You: 3, Opponent: 1
Time Limit None
Winning Strategy
Win the round by KO`ing your opponent.
Guide
Choose a character and step into the ring to battle a humongous Yoshi. You have three lives and unlimited time to KO Yoshi once. For such a big guy, the dino tends to move around a lot, so select a light character to keep up with him. Ness is a good choice, but better yet, pick Pikachu, so you can stand below him and use Thunder. In any case, stay off of Yoshi’s height level, or he’ll try to swallow you. Wait until he lands on a platform, and then attack from below. Maybe, if Yoshi is stupid enough, he might fall of the stage accidentally, but otherwise, stick to the guide.
5. Spare Change
Your Character Ness
Ally None
Opponent Captain Falcon
Stage Eagleland: Onett
Lives None
Time Limit 1:20
Winning Strategy
Win the round by collecting 200 coins.
Guide
This is a unique match; you play as Ness and must collect 200 coins before Capt. Falcon does in 1:20 (one minute and twenty seconds). You could use your fire and thunder moves to attack from afar, but if you want big money, use smash attacks and grab any coins dropped. If either of you gets KO’ed, you lose half of your coin count, so watch your back and smash Capt. Falcon out of the ring for a ton of ‘spare change’. Additionally, you could stand on the street to lure him down, and then jump up as a car comes towards you. If the Captain becomes road kill, he will leave behind 30-40 coins. On the defensive side, don’t give Falcon any time to wind up a power move, or you might lose a lot of money. If that happens, scramble and try to grab it back before he does.
6. Kirby's on Parade
Your Character Any
Ally None
Opponent Kirby x3
Stage Dream Land: Fountain of Dreams
Lives You: 1, Opponents: 2 each
Time Limit None
Winning Strategy
Win the round by KO`ing your opponent.
Guide
Pick your fighter and prepare to fight a three on one battle against a team of Kirby’s, with two lives each. You, however, only have one. To make it easy, pick a fighter with a sweeping attack, such as Link’s Spin Attack, or Mario’s Tornado. Or you could also pick a fighter that’s fast and agile, like Fox or Pikachu, to match the Kirby’s in speed. Either way, keep in mind that the Kirby’s will try to avoid you, unless they have you surrounded. So keep to your side, charge at them, and unleash a strong blow to KO them with ease.
7. Pokémon Battle
Your Character Any
Ally None
Opponent Pikachu
Stage Kanto: Pokémon Stadium
Lives 2 each
Time Limit None
Winning Strategy
Win the round by KO`ing your opponent using only Poké Balls.
Guide
This is fun, you have to battle Pikachu, but you can only hurt each other with Pokemon! As Poke Balls drop onto the field, race Pikachu to them, grab ‘em, and toss them towards your enemy while you run to the next ball. Since your character’s power doesn’t come into use, choose one that’s speedy and agile, so you can reach the Poke Balls before Pikachu does. If he attacks you with Pokemon, find a safe place for you to wait until it vanishes. KO Pikachu twice and you win!
8. Hot Date on Brinstar
Your Character Any (starts with 102% damage)
Ally None
Opponent Samus Aran (starts with 130% damage)
Stage Planet Zebes: Brinstar
Lives 3 each
Time Limit None
Winning Strategy
Win the round by KO`ing your opponent.
Guide
Select a fighter (preferably a strong one) and fight against Samus in an untimed, 2 stock, Smash-off! For reasons unexplained, you and your opponent already begin the match with damage, but it won’t make much of a difference as long as you use tactics like smashing Samus into the acid, then using long-range attacks as she tries to recover. Keep your enemy at a distance, that’s all you need to do.
9. Hide `n` Sheik
Your Character Any
Ally None
Opponent Zelda x2
Stage Termina: Great Bay
Lives 1 each
Time Limit None
Winning Strategy
Win the round by KO`ing Zelda when she is in her Sheik form only.
Guide
This difficult battle pits you against two Zelda’s, as the character of your choice. You each have one life, but here’s the catch; KO’s only count when the enemies are in their ‘Sheik’ form. You can damage them all you want when they’re Zelda, but wait until they transform before you smash them away. If you KO them as Zelda, it won’t count, and their damage resets to zero. Instead, soften them up with basic attacks, and then use a strong move on the Sheiks. It’s best to choose a well-rounded character like Mario for this fight.
10. All-Star Match
Your Character Any
Ally None
Opponent Mario, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Peach, Bowser
Stage Yoshi's Island: Yoshi's Island (Mario); DK Island: Jungle Japes (Donkey Kong); Yoshi's Island: Yoshi's Story (Yoshi); Mushroom Kingdom: Princess Peach's Castle (Peach); Mushroom Kingdom: Rainbow Cruise (Bowser)
Lives You: 2, Opponents: 1 each
Time Limit 4:00
Winning Strategy
Win the round by KO`ing your opponent.
Guide
The first in a line of all-star battles, this event match requires you to fight 5 characters in a row, Mario, DK, Yoshi, Peach, and then Bowser. You will battle them on separate stages, and your damage will carry over. You have two lives, they have one. Pick the fighter you’re best with, and then begin. As soon as you beat one opponent, the next battle starts, with your damage the same as before. Use combos of basic moves and smash attacks to win, but remember to be defensive as well.
