Where's Tobias?
by: Tech21 and Classic | December 19, 2001

After the final showdown in the basement of Professor Ort-Meyer's sanitarium, the Hitman finally gained some sense of peace. He discovered the evils of his own existence, and for the most part brought them to an end. But like any man on a mission, what do you do when that mission is complete? When your life is contract killing, it's not so easy just to drop the only profession you've ever known and take up gardening.

By now, we're all aware that Hitman 2 will pick up with our lead character in the hands of a Catholic priest at a secluded Italian monastery, and he'll have already spent quite a great deal of time there when the plot of Hitman 2 commences. Unbeknownst until now, however, are the activities of the Hitman that took place over a short period of weeks before Father Vittorio was able to contact his target. It wasn't easy tracking down a genetically-engineered killing machine, and even more difficult convincing him to give up his profession. But through research, planning, and most importantly vigilance, Vittorio was able to get his man.

We here at HitmanHQ were able to get our hands on a few of the reconnaissance photos shot over the course of those weeks. What you'll see isn't pretty. As we assumed, giving up the profession of killing proved harder than imagined. The saga picks up with Day One, the morning after the fiasco at the sanitarium.

Day One "Bring the Payne"
Max Payne Gets It The Hitman intercepts a strange laptop transmission: "Your services are requested in New York." The sender identifies itself only as "Aesir Corporation." After arriving in the city, a smart-ass cop on the subway makes a snood remark about Mr. Rieper's tie. The Hitman glances at him briefly, and then it's lights out, piano-wire style.

Day Three "Suburban Horror"
Max Payne Gets It For reasons unknown, the Aesir Corporation pulls the plug on the Hitman's job. The final laptop transmission prints "LOL" on the screen. Lucky for him, however, a fellow passenger aboard the subway observes his handiwork with the piano wire and hires 'Ol Baldy to knock of a scamming television psychic.

Day Six "Nuts and Bolts"
Max Payne Gets It The assassination goes well - that is until the man's wife shoots up Toby with a syringe of strange green liquid. The room begins to spin, frightening visions of his past begin to whirl through his head, and soon the Hitman is running through the desert in the shadow of a 60-foot mechanized combat unit. It has to be the drugs...
