The Ten Most Satisfying Moments in Hitman
by: Tech21 | February 12, 2001
Most could argue that Hitman is, plainly put, a rather difficult game. And for
impatient, pesimistic gamers (you know - the ones who see the glass as half empty),
difficulty equals one thing: frustration. On the flip side of this equation however,
is the fact the Hitman's difficulty, along with its extemely tense gameplay, offer
players the opportunity for a sense of satisfaction unrivaled by other games. To put
it another way, there is nothing quite like getting away with murder...

Eliminating Lee Hong's bodyguard in the restroom parlor
There are two waiters, each occasionally heading to the restroom to freshen
up. Killing one would mean killing both, since the the remaining waiter
would surely discover his slain co-worker, and besides that, you don't have
$5,000 to spare on another innocent kill. Hmm. No one seems to ever enter
the women's room - perhaps you could dispose of the body in here. The only thing
standing in your way is a lone bodyguard stationed at the entrance.
As you creep behind him and begin to ease the fibre wire from your
coat, you realize that a waiter could approach at any moment, ending your
chance at Lee Hong and possibly your life. You push the thoughts away as
guard struggles for air. Your heart races as you slowly drag the body toward
the bathroom door . It seems as is time is standing still as you open the
door and continue dragging the body inside. Finally, restoom door closes
behind you, and you sigh in relief. No one will suspect a thing.

Taking the golden idol from the jungle crash site
The intense jungle music softens to an erie ambient murmur as you approach
the crash site. Pablo's men stare menacingly as you pass, probably thinking,
"I don't remember seeing him around camp." Finally, you reach the hull of the
plane and spot your prize, the golden idol. There is a guard on the
wing, but he has his back turned, and two more are just out of view.
You silently creep behind the only threat, making a quick whipping motion
as the fibre wire wraps and tightens around his neck. Quickly, you pick up the
idol, stuff it into your jacket, and innocently walk away. One of the guards
notices his fallen comrade, but it's too late - there is no sign of the killer.

Landing a headshot on the Red Dragon Negotiator
Your heart races as the service elevator hums and climbs steadily. The
grip tightens on your briefcase as you come to a stop and step out onto
the roof. Squinting in the midday sunlight, and bracing against the
howling wind, you can just make out the meeting point, a large gazebo in the
center of the park. As you unload the sniper rifle from its case, you can barely
make out the sound of a slamming car door. Rising to your feet, you now see the
target, confidently making his way into the park. He comes to a stop. You
find him in the scope. You zoom in once. Twice. Steady now. Your finger
tightens on the trigger, and BOOM. You see a splash of crimson as the Negotiator
drops to the ground. A helicopter approaches in the distance, but by now
you are already descending to the alley below.

Escaping the Sanitarium in the tutorial
The mysterious voice that has been guiding you through your training has
suddenly gone silent. As the elevator opens onto basement level 1, you
see one of the orderlies patroling the hallway. He doesn't see you at first,
but before he can realize what's happenening, two, three, four Desert Eagle
slugs penetrate his chest. He drops to the cold cement floor. The only
way out is through a gate operated by the orderly outside, and he's not going
to open it for a 'patient'. Your mind reels as you head back to where
the dead orderly lies. Suddenly it hits you. You quickly remove your gown
and slip into the dead man's hospitol scrubs. Now the other orderly
recognizes you and carelessly opens the cell gate. As he returns to his seat,
your killer instinct takes over, and you unload a few rounds into him as well.
Now you make your escape.

Blowing the car bomb in the Blue Lotus Emissary's limo
The Blue Lotus guard eyes you suspiciously as you make you appear from the
the alley and stroll back to the limo. The boss has trusted his driver for
thirty years. What is there to worry about? You wait patiently by the
driver side door, holding out for the perfect moment. Now! You silently
pull the car bomb from your coat, open the door, and quickly attach it
under the steering wheel. Gently closing the door, you step away and
return to the alley. Out of sight, you pick up the pace a bit, jogging
to the opposite street. Leaning from behind a nearby building, you can't
help but crack a smile as you see the limo approach. As the four Blue
Lotus guards bid a farewell to their master, you smuggly press the
detonator, and the whole scence is engulfed in a blast of firey shrapnel.
