HitmanHQ Mailbag

Piecing Together the Puzzle
Interesting mailbag scandal. Only thing I could add is that the guy who
forwarded something, "Rorscach," has named himself after a very cool and
interesting character in the best comic book ever written,
Watchmen.
So you should check out every person who's ever bought the book. Or just
look out for comic book fans.
BTW - I don't care if Hitman 2 is just a glorified mission pack. I didn't
play Hitman 1 for the story. I played it because it was a cool, fun game.
That's all.
Sam Newhouse
That's a good point. I think most Hitman fans would agree that amazing graphical
enhancements and loads of new features are certainly commendable, but all we really
want are new missions.
Edit4o7 Laments
Hey, that is truly disappointing news about the cancellation of the Edit4o7
project. I can't believe that such a promising project with so much real progress and
anticipation from so many of the most loyal Hitman gamers has just been simply dismissed!
So IO-Interactive decided that they do not have the necessary time to provide the project
team with a necessary file structure document? Is this really such a time consuming
endeavor? Do you think that IO-Interactive's desire to conserve development time justifies
the wasting of seven months of development time that the Edit4o7 team has already
dedicated? Can IO-Interactive really be so insensitive to the desires and interests of
so many of their most enthusiastic supporters and customers? Can they really afford to be?
I don't have to tell you that the development of a community supported and user friendly
level editor could, for this particular gaming platform with its superior environmental
design capacities, very well launch Hitman into legendary computer gaming status. I
think that the people at IO-Interactive could stand to benefit substantially with such
an occurrence. Don't you?
What I don't understand is why there has been almost no dialogue between IO-Interactive
and the gaming community at large. To my knowledge, IO-Interactive has not even released
a statement regarding its decision in this matter. If IO-Interactive is currently busy
developing Hitman 2, as I'm sure we are all happy that they are doing so, can they not
provide the Edit4o7 team with the file structure document after the completion of the
sequel and fulfill their promises to the development team and those who support them?
I wonder why there has been no such talk between us all. I think that IO-Interactive
would be enlightened by the expressed interests of its customer base and thereby be
better able to participate in, contribute to, and of course profit materially from a
community of very dedicated, creative, enthusiastic, and conscientious fun loving
gamers.
I hope that our friends at IO-Interactive will reconsider their decision to deny the
Edit4o7 team the support and cooperation that they deserve and rightly have earned.
I hope that they will do this so that Edit4o7 may be able not only to complete the project
that they have dedicatedly developed for seven months, but also to allow the gaming
community at large to contribute to and enjoy a remarkably exceptional computer
simulation that has become, for many of us, our most favorite computer game.

You're definitely correct about the lack of public announcements concerning the
decisions on an editor. IO-Interactive could have put an end to speculation and
incorrect assumptions with an official statement. The good news is, there may still be
hope for Edit4o7 after the release of Hitman 2. The Edit4o7 team has been
corresponding with IOI about a possible reincarnation of the project, but no definite
agreements have been made as of yet.
Save Games
Hey. I read your article on Hitman 2.
Although you suggest the Save game feature is an element that should
be removed, I tend to disagree. I view most people requested the ingame
save as a result of the several "rambo" style missions - the docks, and the
killing of the drug lord. In those missions, an ingame save was practically
required for a I spent countless hours trying to get through the mission
only to be continuously shot at.
You do suggest that people would play the level and then save and then
play more of the level, I don't see this possible with the limit on the number
of save games. Sure the player may be able to save it once or twice after
successfully completing an objective, the player cannot continously do it.
Besides, since IOI has stated they'll be removing all "Rambo" style missions,
I really don't see this as being a problem.
I do agree with you that planning a precise hit is part of the game, but
in the missions such as killing the druglord, there was no real way to be
precise other than shooting him through the window with a R93 Sniper
Rifle. However, everyone would still shoot at you if they saw you with it.
It's a decent addition. Just like the first player view, its an option, which
can be used by the player. It's not mandatory. It can't hurt.

More Bellboy Backlash
Hitman insults the desk clerk in an East Europian accent, not Spanish. I
would've thought that the mission being set in Budapest would make this
obvious.I'm not trying to insult anyone, but any non-American accent is not
automatically Spanish. The USA is just one of many countries in America,
let alone the world. Having been to both Budapest and the hotel itself, I have to say that
the accent is quite good.
Hitman 2 will almost certainly be put back to at least July, but I'm
sure Mafia will keep us company.

That does it for edition four of the HitmanHQ Mailbag. Keep those minds
reeling and keys a'tapping! In the meantime, hop on over the the messageboard
and discuss today's topics.
