Dissecting The Trailer
by: Michael "Tech21" Calfee | March 7, 2004

With the release of the second Hitman: Contracts trailer Friday, we finally got a glimpse at some real ingame action, as well as a dossier-style look at many of 47's targets this time around. There are a few familiar faces: the slovenly Meat King is already well known, and Tzun and Lee Hong from Hitman: Codename 47 make a brief flashing.

But like any good marketing tool, the new Contracts trailer gives us only teasing tidbits of footage (ok, it's got more cuts than an episode of The Shield). This makes it very difficult for us viewers to soak up everything presented - so we want to know more, and see more. Damn those marketing people.

So what HitmanHQ has done, is slow things down a bit. Below, you will find a screen capture of each "target" highlighted in the trailer, and a brief description of what is known (or not known) about them. And at the end, there are a few wildcard screens thrown in for good measure. So here we go.

The 411: I'm going to assume this guy is the Blue Lotus Emissary that 47 was hired to kill in the "Ambush at the Wang Fou Restaurant" mission from Hitman: Codename 47. The limo is there, and the streetscape looks similar. Could this mean we'll get to replay this mission in Contracts? Maybe so.

The 411: This spunky little dude seem to be the target (or one of the targets) in the Siberia mission. The footage briefly shows him walking out in the snow with another individual, before cutting to technicians working on a bomb, then to the above closeup.

The 411: Yes, it's the Meat King. He's probably the most extravagant of the bunch, and thusly, this is probably why Eidos chose to reveal him first (or maybe IOI is making up these characters as they go along). In case you haven't heard, the Meat King owns a meat processing plant in Romania, and it's 47's job to seek revenge on the king for the murder of his client's daughter.

The 411: The camera quickly zooms on two Blue Lotus guards before panning and zooming on this guy. In short, he's not Lee Hong. Then who is he? ... No idea.
