I stopped by the GameSpy Arcade Gettysburg lobby today, and to much suprise, it is still active. So if you are still looking for a game of Gettysburg! multiplayer, be sure to stop by the Gettysburg lobby.
Additionally, the The Gettysburg Online Society is another active place to head over for all of your SMx needs.

The Angle will remain open until at least September 30th, when hopefully Craig Foster (from the BreakAway Games message board) has his site for the game series up and running, which will have all of The Angle's downloads. The Angle will remain in an archived state until everything is ready, and once again I would like to thank everyone who has helped along the way, and of course StrategyPlanet.com and GameSpy.com for their services and hosting.

The Angle - Closing
Wednesday, July 24, 2002 | 19:07 PST | Matthew Morelli
| Discussion
Forums |
On August 17th, The Angle will be closing its doors for good.
Since launching in March of 2001, The Angle has seen the rise of Waterloo and Antietam. It's seen it's high points, and it's low points, but it's time to say goodbye and move onto bigger and better things. As the series has taken a turn into the world of Napoleonics, the games have been fun, but my true intrest lies within the realm of the American Civil War. If you would like to read a little more about why The Angle is closing, check out this post on our forums, here
But, I wouldn't leave without giving directions to the future of the Great Battle Series! So get ready, here's everything I know of, that you should check out!
Looking to be the best place to keep up on either the game or the history, check out Austerlitz @ The Wargamer
The Shrapnel Games forums. Nice place to be, but just not very active yet. Strong community with a bunch of nice folks.
The Discussion Boards at BreakAway Games. Rough and quite violent. Bring your firesuit and I hope you have some thick skin.
Well that's all,
I'll be around, just keep a watchful eye out for the Vermont Tornado, mm14thvt. For all those interested in the Civil War, check out The Signal Post

Lost, around a year and a half ago were some of the names of the SMG scenarios we have here. But, the author of two of the scenarios reported in and we've been able to update the scenario list. Get Steve Hall's scenarios: Wilson's Creek and Battle In The Woods, and while you're at it, check out the rest of our scenarios on our SMG scenario page.

New Sid Meier's Gettysburg Patch!

Yes that's right, Firaxis Games has released a new patch for Sid Meier's Gettysburg! It's only been a couple of years since the last patch, but Firaxis has returned to allow Windows 2000/Windows XP users to play Gettysburg with no errors after installing, or attempting to run. You'll also need to download this in order to play against people online, because of the change in files. Download the patch now.

Sid Meier's Gettysburg
Windows XP/2000 Compatibility Update
June 6, 2002
************************************************************
** Notes
************************************************************
-- This patch is a Windows 2000/XP compatibility update, to
allow users of Windows 2000 or XP to run Gettysburg. It
is not required for users of Windows 95, 98, or ME.
However, users with these operating systems will need to
install this patch if they wish to play multiplayer games
with other players who have installed this patch.
-- This patch will attempt to locate your installation of
Sid Meier's Gettysburg, and defaults to that location, if
found. If the patch cannot locate Gettysburg, it will
default to
C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Gettysburg.
In this situation, you should ensure the patch installs
to the directory that you have installed Gettysburg into.
-- If you get an error message when you try to load the game,
you may need to rename or delete the file named
"MSVFW32.DLL" in your Gettysburg install directory. The
Compatibility Update installer will do this automatically
if it can find this file.

The SMG Annex and W:NLB Annex's webmaster Larry Hookins has suffered a serious heart attack and will have to undergo complex bypass surgery this weekend. For those who better know him as "Hook", he has done so much for the community and the game, that one may never know all that he has done. Please put Larry in your prayers.
