Z:SS
Strategy Guide: Basic Stuff |
|
 |
Spreading: Known in other games as "octopus" style,
it's simply a basic ability in Z:SS. Just spread your troops
around and capture flags as fast as you can. To be really
fast, forget the screen-borders or arrow keys scrolling.
Z:SS has a super fast right mouse button pan feature, so
use it or eat dust.
NEVER send all your troops to a single direction, spread
them in every direction. In Z:SS some territories are more
valuable than others, right, but you should account for
that later. Send your fastest early units (psychos, sniper)
to the furthest territories and the slowest (toughs, pyros)
to the back and other nearby unassigned territories.
If you have a radar right at the start, use the minimap
to spread quickly, without taking your eyes out of the command
center. Select the unit(s) you want to send to one side
and shift+click the white dots (flags) forming a path towards
the probable front line. The front line(s) is(are) very
easy to define since the maps are symmetrical and you can
watch your enemy progress by the territories changing color
in the minimap.
Each map demands a different tactic, but you should generally
avoid sending your initial powerful tanks (heavy tanks,
mobile missile, etc) to a single battle front.
