Ever since the beginning of time, seven star spirits have watched over the Mushroom Kingdom with a very close eye. Perched high above in the legendary Star Haven, they grant the wishes all the beings of the Mushroom Kingdom with the Star Rod--which has the power to grant any wish to anyone. However, the seven spirits ignore all selfish wishes. Frustrated by that fact that his wishes continually went unanswred, Bowser flew in his Koopa Kopter all the way to Star Haven and did the unthinkable...stole the Star Rod. His first wish was to imprision all the seven star spirits and send them to the far reaches of the kingdom. With the Star Rod in his possesion, Bowser set into motion his plan to take over the entire Mushroom Kingdom! Meanwhle, sitting at home, Mario and Luigi hear Parakarry, the mailkoopa, call from outside that the've recived some new mail. Luigi retrieves the message from the mailbox and reads it to his brother. It's an invitation to a party at the castle! Immidiatley, Mario and Luigi head off to the castle for the party. When they arrive, they discover many of the guests had already arrived. Luigi stays behind in the main room to mingle with the other guests, but Mario goes upstairs to meet with Princess Peach. As Mario and Peach talk in a hallway, the ground began to shake. After what seemed like hours, the shaking stopped and Princess looked outside and gasped. The stars were out...in the middle of the afternoon! The whirly sound of the Koopa Kopter sudden appeared, and then Bowser smashed through a nearby window. Mario, like everytime before, enterd a duel with Bowser. Mario quickly gained the upper hand in the battle...untill Bowser wipped out the Star Rod. Whishing he was invicible, the tide quickly turned. Within seconds, Bowser defeated Mario! Mario was hit so hard with the last blow, he was knocked through the window and slowly tumbled down...and down...
