This is a photo of the original 1986 Might and Magic oversized game book.  The spiral-bound book measures 9"x12"and is too big to fit in a box.

GOTCHA uses the broad term "Apple" here to categorize games written for any Apple-brand computer.  This isn't really a fair categorization because "Apple" could easily be broken into at least three more categories covering the three main families of Apples:  Apple II, Apple IIgs, and Macintosh.  Someday GOTCHA may differentiate them, but for now they are all listed here.  Of the three families, GOTCHA only considers the Apple II to be a historically significant platform for gaming (see the page on Gaming PCs to read why).  However, classic games are to be found on all forms of the silicon fruit, and therefore Mac and IIGS games also pepper the Apple wing of the GOTCHA Museum.

The Apple II on the other hand is one of the most significant platforms from the Golden Age of PC Gaming.  The hordes of kids who tricked their parents into getting Apples at home for "school work" allowed game publishers to find much better ways for kids to spend their study time.  In the late 70's and early 80's, many a game publishing empire was built on the success of the Apple II:   SSI's wargames, Sierra's adventures, Microprose's early combat simulators, and, of course, the first Ultima's and Wizardry's all helped forge powerful game companies.  Apple reigned supreme until the mid-to-late 80's when the C-64, Amiga and Atari ST dominated the gaming market.
