Undying Walkthrough: Ambrose

Having waxed Lizbeth, it's time now to find the violent and insane brother Ambrose.

[O] Standing Stones' Walkthrough Ambrose: Manor to Pirates Cove and back


CATACOMBS CLIFFS
Traverse the cliff path, and use your Haste spell to get enough speed to jump the gaps. Climb up the vines on the wall, and progress to the boat which you'll take back to the Manor.

MANOR GARDENS
Try the kitchen door, and you'll be told you need the Kitchen Key. Just past there a gardener will come up, talk to you, then take off. You'll hear him get killed... go there and fight the Trsantis and grab the key from the gardener's body. Just past where you saw the Trsanti are some steps down. Go down, and to the left is a pool with an amplifier. Then right you'll find Bethany's greenhouse, full of Jiles (phosphorus shells work great on them). Explore the greenhouse for a letter from Bethany detailing some disturbing things about her brother Aaron. Then go back to the Kitchen door and use the key to enter.

MANOR NORTH WING LOWER
Once inside the house, continue straight through the kitchen and into the dining room beyond for an amplifier (use haste to dodge the Ghost Children). Then come back outside the dining room and continue to the right, where you'll see a cutscene and then take a brief jaunt outside for another amplifier. Come back into the kitchen and go through the door by the countertop, and head upstairs.

MANOR NORTH WING UPPER
Take a right and then another right, go down the long hallway past the servants quarters, and through the door at the end of the hallway to the East Wing.

MANOR EAST WING UPPER
Talk to the butler, then follow him through the door and talk again. After that go through the closed doors in front of you to explore Ambrose' room. Come back out, and continue on. When you're at the top of the steps, just head downstairs. Fight the flickering stalker that comes through the window, then go through the door.

MANOR EAST WING LOWER
Take a left when you get to the hallway of blowing curtains and continue (at this point you'll start fighting a bunch of Trsanti). When you get to a point in the hallway with a door on the left and right and where the hallway continues straight, take a right (the left door is into the children's room but is locked, and continuing down the hallway will just bring you into the chapel which doesn't do anything for you).

You'll go through another hallway, and wind up with a door in front of you and the big hallway going to the left. Jog left and kill the Trsanti (this is the first time you face off against a Trsanti witch), then go back to that door and go through and scrye. Then continue on to the paintings room. Go through there and through the door at the end into the entrance foyer of the house, and go through the doors across from the stairs. No you'll be outside in the area you very first starte the game in... go through the small door in the garden wall, and continue down to the boat to the Standing Stones.

STANDING STONES
Climb up to the stones and grab the Shield spell. Either fight the floating handmaiden that appears, or just jump down the hill to the boat and escape.

MANOR GROUNDS
Fight your way back to the front of the manor, then go over to and through the gate where you first started the game.
Note that there is a well-known bug that can occur here (doesn't always happen). When you approach the gate, a gardener is supposed to appear on the other side and open it for you. For some reason,he fails to show up a lot of the time.

A couple things you can do about it: If you have a recent save game play from before you came back from the Standing Stones, play from there. If not, you can do a semi-cheat (hey, in this case, I wouldn't call it cheating) by hitting the tab key and typing in "aerial" minus the quotes. Then you'll be able to fly over the wall, and type in "walk" to return to normal walking, and continue on.
Continue to the lighthouse, and go straight to it and climb up. Then go explore Sedgewick's quarters, and get the Lighthouse Gate key. Go up to the gate (past the gravestone) and go through. Inside the lookout wall is a circular stone pile with stairs and a square hole, which you drop through to get into the Trsanti caves. Once inside, you'll see hanging fishnets that you can climb down like ladders.

PIRATES COVE CAVERNS
The next section is pretty linear, with lots of Trsanti. Make sure your Invoke spell is amplified since it's extremely effective against them. There aren't many tricks here; just explore, fight, and keep going straight. One section is a bit tricky with two hanging nets perpendicular to each other. When looking up at them (do this quick since a Trsanti is above dropping dynamite), climb the one on the right as far up as you can go, then just go sideways towards the other net and jump to it. Climb up and continue on, and after you kill the Trsanti witch at the top go through the gate that opens to the right and get a mana well. At one point you'll hear the Scrye warning; you'll see a compass symbol on the wall. Push that wall to get to the amplifier inside.

When the cave opens up into a giant open space, you'll see a Trsanti come out of a door on the left. If you go look, this leads to a long passage with a cannon at the end. Use Haste to run down the hallway, and at the very end start jumping to avoid the cannon ball. Grab all teh stuff, and head back out to the other opening where you'll see a cage elevator. Ride up, kill the Trsanti, and jump into the water passage and swim. Go up to the airhole partway through to get some inventory. Continue on to the docks and then the building, and go through the door on the bottom floor. Work your way through the ruins, exploring thoroughly. When you come to the passage with the arrow trap and the manawell across from it, use Haste and go right after you see some arrows shoot out.

Continue on, fighting Trsanti and blowing up crates of TNT. Make sure to explore thoroughly as this part can be a bit confusing (even though in the end there's still only one direction you can ever progress in, so don't worry.

You'll come to a room with a grate blocking the passage out,and a bunch of TNT crates. Walk back into the passage you entered this room through, shoot the TNT, then after it's all done exploding use Haste to run through. Make it quick since the cieling will fall soon.

Watch the cutscene with Ambrose, then explore the treasure room. Grab the Skull Storm spell scroll, then shoot the wall right in front of you where the spell scroll was, and escape the poison gas.

MANOR
Go through the manor front door, and take a left at the bottom of the main staircase. Through the passage is the big winding staircase going up; don't go up but instead go through the door to the right. When you fight Ambrose, avoid him until a Gel'ziabar hound appears and attacks him, then simply shoot the Gel'ziabar stone out of his axe and then use the Scythe to cut off his head.
