Round 1: City Street
Meet the first wave of hoodlums right out on the streets!

Set in a downtown area (where every shop has a neon sign), this is a fairly average level to ease you into the game. Highlights include smashing up phone boxes and also an abundance of beer bottles to use.

Boss: Guy armed with boomerang

Round 2: Inner City
Surrounded by condemned buildings, you continue the fight!

Not the most interesting level ever. Weirdly, the doors in the background seem at least twice as big as they should be.

Boss: Knife-hand guy

Round 3: Beachfront
No time for fun and sun as the battle moves to the seashore!

Poor graphics, especially the wave animation at the bottom of the screen, make for a pretty mediocre stage.

Boss: Wrestler

Round 4: Bridge
Brawl your way across this collapsing span!

The first interesting level. Holes in the floor mean that you have a new way of disposing of enemies, although you too can fall to your death.

Boss: Fat Man

Round 5: Aboard Ship
Hope you have your sea legs!

Cool up & down screen motion plus Yuzo Koshiro's music give this round a very boat-like atmosphere. Watch out for the ninjas jumping out of the sea! Midway though the level you are met by a weak version of the wrestler from Round 3.

Boss: Blaze Clones

Round 6: Factory
The war moves inside, where industrial machines become a factor!

Very cool level. Conveyor belts make things interesting, as do the industrial presses (see screenshot). These things go off when you try and cross them and cause quite a bit of damage (they can be used against enemies too!). Midway you are met by a weak version of the fat man from Round 4.

Boss: Knife-hand guy

Round 7: Freight Elevator
Our three warriors of justice are closing in on their objective!

This is probably the best level in the game, although it is relatively short. You make your way up the side of the Syndicate's high rise HQ in an extremely dangerous freight elevator. Every so often the lift stops and enemies pour out. Throwing them over the side is what makes the level so fun, but it is a dangerous tactic, as you can get thown over too! You can also jump onto the side of the elevator (see screenshot) in order to pull off some cool flying kicks.

Boss: None, strangely enough.

Round 8: Syndicate Headquarters
The only way to find out what horrors await you here is to run the gauntlet of enemies and step inside!

The hardest level, in the game by far. Round 8 pits you against every single boss you've met before you meet Mr X, with some tough enemies in-between. You also have no special attacks, so if your tactics at killing a boss are simply use special attacks until they die then you are in trouble! Round 8 also disables the two player start feature, so you can't bring in extra help in the form of another player (and also stops you continuing as Player 2 when you run out of continues!). Cool features include the sun gradually rising in the windows in the background and the moving food trolleys!

When you finally confront Mr X he offers you a position as his right-hand man. Accept in one-player and he dumps you through the floor into Round 6! In two player different answers from both players can lead to the Bad Ending!

Boss: Mr X.
