3:03p
Jay Adan, Marketing Director for Cyberlore, sent me a status update on the full release of Majesty, "...I wanted to let you know that we sent out our gold candidate today. That means that Hasbro QA will be looking it over for the next few days to make sure that it's as stable as we think that it is. Once they sign off on it it will be GOLD! My guess is that we'll find out pretty soon whether or not they want any changes."

8:37a
Adrenaline Vault has six new Majesty screen captures.  Check them out here.  We have also added a link to them on the links page.

7:23a
The Australian site, Majesty News, is taking a hiatus and has been (hopefully temporarily) removed from the web ring.  They will continue to appear on our links page however for anyone who needs to get info from that site.

There is a new Majesty Preview over on Gamer's Central.  We've added a link to it on the Links page.

9:00a
We have added a Hotbar section to the Dragon Info page.  For those of you who are not familiar with Hotbar, it is a utility that lets you change the graphics at the top of your Microsoft Internet Explorer Browser.  We have one Majesty-Dragon graphic currently available and will be adding more.

7:00a
Just a quick update to let you know what it going on here.  I have just finished a move and am having some difficulty getting the phone line situation straightened out with the local phone company.  It has seriously affected how often the news site gets updated.

We will be adding a new member to the Majesty Web Ring soon.  Valoric from Cyberlore has a new site where he posts Majesty Wall Papers.  It is appropriately named "Majesty Wallpapers & more".

For those of you who are current members of the Web Ring and those who will be joining soon, we are currently in the process of writing custom Perl scripts to handle having each site poll this one to get the URL of the next link in the chain instead of having to manually edit the HTML with each update.  This script will also animate the Web Ring arrows on mouse over and click.  We are hoping to have this completed within two weeks.  Please, be patient.  We thank Majesty-Dragon editor Martyr for his help in this area.

We should be having our official Majesty-Dragon Week on GameSpy/StrategyPlanet very soon.  That week we will have tons of goodies for everyone including but not limited to interviews, screen captures, reviews and more.  So, keep checking back for updates.

We have added a grand total of -7- Majesty BETA Screen Captures over on the Gallery page.  We've got Rock Gollums and Dragons and Elves and Warriors of Discord and all kinds of goodies on display.  Wicked spell effects?  Got 'em.  Half-naked women with a snake for a butt?  Got 'em.  Giant, hairless, one-eyed freaks?  We got it all!

8:04a
It looks like GameSpy has most of the kinks worked out in their mirroring. So Majesty-Dragon is back in business!

To kick off this grand event, as I promised, I have posted an all new screen capture from the Majesty BETA on the Gallery page.  Here you will see a fully upgraded Wizard's Guild and some Veteran City Guards on patrol  Pay special attention to the list of Wizards and their level on the left.

8:47a
We have added information on how to add your Majesty related site to the new Majesty Web Ring.  It is our hope that the new web ring can help to generate additional interest in the game Majesty.  Check it out here.  It is new, so if you have suggestions, let us know.  We all know the game is great, we just need to make the rest of the world aware.  It's the right thing to do.  :)

9:59p
GameSpy has notified me that they are very close to having their servers back up and running full steam with Network Appliance (hardware mirroring).  I have a small reward for those of you have been waiting patiently while this site had more ups and downs than a roller coaster.  Once I receive the go ahead from GameSpy on their system, I will post some brand new, never-before-seen screeshots of Majesty from the BETA version.  That's right, from the BETA version.  These will be the first of many.

I will let you all in on another little secret.  After having messed around with the BETA for a few days, I can honestly say that the DEMO does not do the full game justice.  If you thought the DEMO was fun, then you will wet your pants with excitement when you see the full version.

I would also like to thank Hasbro for having the forsight to send a copy of the BETA to Majesty-Dragon in order that we could spread the good word (and share a few screenshots).

8:35p
Majesty-Dragon is now officially a member of the GameSpy network and is hosted on their StrategyPlanet servers.  It was a necessary step towards getting the good word out about Majesty.  So, update those bookmarks!

11:27a
OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED
I have the official word on the release date from Matt Nowak at Hasbro, "The official release date for Majesty is now March 21.  EBWorld is correct, in this case."

9:03a
EBWorld is taking pre-orders on Majesty.  They have the release date as March 22.  Let's hope they are wrong.

I know this is not a Majesty related post, but The Smoking Gun has a new online issue out.  If you are not familiar with The Smoking Gun, they are a gaming news site that pokes fun at the gaming industry.  Check out their take on Daikatana.  Hilarious!

7:07a
There is a new review of the Majesty demo on the Reviews page.  This is the 3rd in at least 4 reviews from different people around the world with different gaming personalities and tastes.  This new review by Majesty-Dragon editor Martyr takes a hard look at Majesty from an RTS perspective.

Tuesday, January 4th, 2000
6:46a
We have our second of four total Majesty Demo Reviews over on the Reviews page (of course).  This time Majesty-Dragon Editor Antipater takes a hard look at the demo and gives his opinion.  Check it out!

There is a new review of the Majesty demo on Majesty-Dragon. This is the 3rd in at least 4 reviews from different people around the world with different gaming personalities and tastes.

10:02p
First thing, I would like to wish everyone a happy new year!  There should be a lot to look forward to this year including (cross your fingers) the full version of Majesty in stores next month.

I have added a review of the Majesty Demo on the Reviews page.  Even though this is a fan site, I tried to remain semi-unbiased.  This is the first of at least four reviews from different people with different gaming personalities from around the world.  So keep checking back.

They are talking about the problems connecting to Cyberlore over on the Majesty Forum; but, of course, if we could connect...there wouldn't be a discussion.  So, if you want to see what's up go here.  As before, you can read, but you can't post.  Hopefully these problems should be all cleared up by tomorrow.

9:20a
It appears that not everyone is having the problem connecting to the Cyberlore page.  For those of you that can't get to the page, I will list a few links you can use below.  The links to the message board will allow you to look, but not post.  Also, keep in mind that some of the graphics will fail and may slow the display of the pages.  When it locks up like this, hit 'stop' and you should at least get the text.

It looks like the Cyberlore and Majesty sites are unavailable again through their normal addresses.  You can still get to Cyberlore from here.  Yesterday when I reported the problem to Jay, he was completely unaware. Luckily I have Seldaren to prove I'm not insane.  :)

3:12p
Well it turns out that Cyberlore IS available.  They are just at a new URL (http://www.cyberlore-studios.com).  The Majesty site is also available, but the message board is still down.
Thanks Seldaren for the info.

It may be that the new URL is only temporary while they switch ISP's.  Once I confirm with Cyberlore which URL is active, I will go through the task of *choke* updating all the links on Majesty-Dragon if necessary.  I will let everyone know what I find out.

1:53p
It looks like the Cyberlore site is down again.  I have not heard from Jay yet, but as we learned from yesterday, they are in the process of switching ISP's so we can only assume this has something to do with it.  Of course, if the Cyberlore site is down, the Majesty site is down as well.  I'll let you know when I hear anything.

2:30p
There is news on Gamespot and other sites about some shutdowns and lay-offs at Hasbro.  I contacted Jay Adan to find out how this affects Majesty and specifically the release of Majesty and the Majesty Demo.  Jay reports that the changes at Hasbro have absolutely no affect on the Majesty release or relations between Cyberlore and Hasbro on this project.

Matt Nowak from Hasbro reports, "Majesty is not dead.  It's still very much on schedule for a February release."

Alan G. Hassenfeld, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hasbro noted in their Press Release, "As we transition Hasbro from a toy and game manufacturer to being a leader in children's and family leisure time and entertainment, we must realign our business to support our commitment to technology and game play. They are the keys to our continued growth."

Other articles seemed to point to the fact that they wanted a renewed focus on PC gaming.  All good signs.  Listed below are a few sites with this story.  They all pretty much say the same thing and reflect a lot of what is found in Hasbro's Press Release.

Gamespot
MSNBC
Yahoo: Reuters
CNET: Bloomberg News

11:30a
The Majesty and Cyberlore sites are now available.  Jay talks about the server problems over on the Majesty-Dragon Forum.

9:30a
Jay e-mailed me to let everyone know that they are in the process of changing servers.  Strangely enough the problem with their web-site is with their ISP.  They are working on it now.  In Jay's words, "ARGH!!!"

7:30a
It seems as if the Cyberlore web page is unaccessible (you get Javanet instead of Cyberlore) and the Cyberlore's Official Majesty Forum has gone a bit flaky. I'll let everyone know as soon as things are working again.

Tuesday, December 7th, 1999

12:02p
Cyberlore has added a section on the cultist.  Check it out!

10:21a
Matt Nowak from Hasbro Interactive sent over some release information:
"The demo should be available very soon, but I don't have an exact date, unfortunately.  While I don't have an EXACT date right now, the game is scheduled to ship in the first week or two of February.  As the time gets closer, I'll be able to narrow that down for you."
He also let me know that there is a preview in the latest (January) edition of PC Gamer.

5:40p
I have moved the screenshots from the Downloads page to the Gallery page where they belong.  Sorry for any confusion.

In the spirit of the holiday season and as an additional service to the gaming community I have added two more selections to the links page.  The first link is to the Electronics Boutique site and the second is to their completely hidden online Rebates page.  This should be of benefit to anyone who couldn't find it since their last web revision.

11:29a
There is a new Majesty preview on Focus (a German site).  I have added it to the links page.
Thanks Ikli "the Unquenchable" for the info.

9:25p
I just recieved some new screen captures from Jay Adan at Cyberlore.  The full size versions can be downloaded from the our Gallery page.

Jay also informs me that a new version of the Majesty Theme Music in MP3 format is now available.  So, if you have had any problems with this file in the past, the new version should work much better.  It can be found on their downloads page.

10:50a
I recieved an update on the demo from Matt Nowak, PR guy on the Majesty project from Hasbro Interactive:
"As far as the demo goes, it will be in Computer Games magazine, PC Gamer and CGW's CD inserts in the Feb issue (Computer Games) and the March issue (CGW, PC Gamer) which will be on shelves in early Jan for the Feb. issue) and early Feb (for the March issue).  As far as the online demo goes, it will be the same as the CD insert version.  The reason it is not out quite yet is
that Hasbro is finalizing some plans for a really cool contest they will be running for people who download it.  I will be able to give you the scoop on this soon."

10:36p
There is a new preview over on CNET GameCenter.  Here is a taste...
....."...Majesty may break the real-time strategy mold. It's not merely a strategy game: it's a fantasy kingdom sim."
....."...evil heroes are intelligent and will visit your thieves' guild to buy poison for their weapons or your blacksmith to improve their arms."
Thanks Ikli "the Unquenchable" for the info.

If you are looking for some info on the final release date of Majesty (the whole game, not the demo), check out this thread on the official Majesty Forum.  Here is a taste...
.....Sorak-"I would like to clarify something though... It sounds like you guys are really getting a lot done and much of the game is in place, and I thought by early 2000 you meant like Jan or maybe Feb, but at the new preview (CNET) it says Spring 2000? Which would be guessed at being most accurate?"

I hope that everyone had an excellent Thanksgiving.  I know I personally am chock full of turkey goodness.

I have added a poll over on the Forum concerning Map Editing in Majesty.  Drop by and voice your opinion.

10:48p
I have added what little strategy I could find to the Strategy page.  I will keep digging to see what else I can find.  If you happen upon some information let me know.  Eventually, I would like that page to take input from other players, but we have to wait for the demo for that.  :)

Jay is posting updates on the demo's release on the new Majesty Forum
Here is a taste:
"I realize that some of you are starting to wonder what the heck is up with the demo. Let me assure you that there have been no technical difficulties with it. The demo is done, has been accepted by Hasbro as done, and has even been gold mastered..."

9:36a
Cyberlore has done a complete revamp of their Majesty site.  You will find a new layout, graphics, screens shots, and forum.

Incite Games has a new preview of Majesty.  Check it out.

10:19p
I have posted Majesty-Dragon's interview with Jay Adan at Cyberlore.
Here is a teaser from that interview:

"Will certain classes be more capable against certain types of monsters?  If so, can you give us an idea of who will be better against what?
Rangers do poorly against skeletons because their arrows do little damage against them,..."

Sunday, November 21st, 1999

8:12p
I have updated the Majesty-Dragon Links page with suggestions from fellow gamer and frequent Majesty-Dragon contributor Sorak.  If anyone else has suggestions for the links page, feel free to post them under this thread on the Forum.  Thanks Sorak for the help.

I also updated the Dragon Info page with some graphics that can be used to link to us, as well as vital contact information.

11:16a
E-mail from Jay Adan of Cyberlore:
....."...We just got word from Hasbro that the demo has officially been gold mastered - we still don't know when it's going up though. As soon as they can put it up I imagine, but I think that there are some final details that need to be worked out. It's not like we could just upload it to our site and let people get it. Our ISP would probably kill us after they got the system back online...  ;)"

10:13a
E-mail from Jay Adan of Cyberlore:
....."Actually, the demo is out the door, Hasbro is finishing up the final details of making it available for download and when that is finished it will be available for everybody to download.
.....We've also been putting together a minor redesign of our website that will include a new discussion forum. That should be up and running by the end of the week.
.....Both Gone Gold and CNet Game Center should have new previews up shortly.
.....That's about all of the news for now. I'll let you know as soon as Hasbro gives us the date that the demo will be online."

7:58a
David Stokes (Cyberlore 3D Animator/Artist) posted to the old Heaven board:
"It won't be up to us when the demo is available. That's an issue for Hasbro's marketing. There are all kinds of deals and things that happen behind the scenes -- magazines competing to be the first to include the demo, web sites wanting exclusive things, et cetera -- which we have little to nothing to do with. It's pretty much out of our hands. "Ours is not to question why...""

7:46a
News on the demo release can be found on Gone Gold.  Here is a preview:
"For those of you patiently waiting for the Majesty demo, your wait is almost
over. The demo is completed, has been delivered to Hasbro and will be
delivered by Gigex. The total size of the demo is about 35 MB..."
Thanks Sorak and Ikli for the info.

The Majesty Dragon Downloads page has been updated.  We have separated the Wallpaper sent over by Jay Adan at Cyberlore into 3 sizes.

Friday, November 5th, 1999

2:34p
Just as an FYI, I have submitted a list of questions to Cyberlore about Majesty.  Jay Adan (the marketing director) was gracious enough to allow this pseudo interview, and is currently in the process of researching the answers.  They are in the thick of the demo release and I appreciate the extra effort they are making.  Be sure to check back often.  I will post this interview as soon as I get it back from Jay.

12:22p
Excerpt from a post by Jay Adan of Cyberlore on the Majesty-Dragon Forum:
....."...While the kingdoms would probably be considered mostly human from the point of view of the inhabitants, you can add elves, dwarves, and gnomes as you see fit. They won't all live together though so if you choose to add one you might be limiting yourself to just that one.
.....When you create your kingdom you are making choices like this all along. "If I choose "x" I can't have "y". These decisions are a big part of the strategy of the game. It also gives you the opportunity to create a kingdom style that you like and enjoy playing."

11:22a
E-mail from Jay Adan of Cyberlore:
"I just wanted you to know that although I can't guarantee a specific
date, it looks like the demo should be finished this week. It'll be up
to Hasbro to determine when it goes out after that."

1:09a
E-mail from Jay Adan of Cyberlore:
"I'll be sure to let you know as soon as I know about the demo.
Gamespot's getting a 24hr exclusive on the download as soon as we're
ready for people to get it. After that folks will be picking it up
through the place that handled the Mechwarrior 3 Demo. They're pretty
cool. Lots of bandwidth and a special little download program that
allows you to restart in the middle if you lose your connection. Since
it's going to be around 30 megs that's probably a good thing."

Friday, October 22nd, 1999

1:31p
Excerpt from a post by Jay Adan of Cyberlore at the Mad Gamer's Emporium discussion forums:
"...there are a variety of ways to play multiplayer. You choose the type of victory conditions you have when you start the game but that doesn't necessarily determine if the game is going to be cooperative or not. When the game starts the heroes treat all of the kingdoms with almost the same amount of respect. Heroes will help out heroes no matter what kingdom they're from. They'll shop at the marketplaces of the various kingdoms. Kill monsters anywhere they find them and attempt the rewards placed by all sovereigns. They will show some differences in attitude if you place rewards on your opponents buildings. The big change comes when you flag your opponents Palace. Once somebody does that the heroes will all treat each other as enemies for the rest of the game. This doesn't mean that you have to destroy your opponents kingdom to win (the other victory conditions are still in effect) just that you now have to worry about the opposing heroes as much as you do any monsters."

11:35a
Received the thumbs up go ahead approval for this site from Cyberlore.

9:06am
Received an e-mail from Jay Adan at Cyberlore:
"The demo is in the bugfix stage right now and it's looking like it might be available in the next couple of weeks."

9:00am
The introduction day for Majesty-Dragon.  There is not a lot here now but we hope it will start filling out quickly.
