If you have a music player of some sort, you're even able to have music playing in your house which you can get from K.K. Slider at the train station every Saturday night.
Every time you finish paying off a debt to Nook, he offers a upgrade to your house, and a new larger debt to pay it off. Two center floor enlargements, a attic, and a basement will all become available to you during the course of your payments. Nook will also offer to paint your roof for you every time you upgrade.
