What's all the fuss about? |

When I first read about MoonBase Commander
I got pretty hyped about it, which is unusual for me. I
don't get hyped for games unless they're either made by Nintendo
or called Soul Calibur II. I used to get excited about
upcoming games all the time, but then Trespasser was released.
So why'd I get so interested in MoonBase Commander?
Scorched Earth was one of the
first PC games I ever played, and my buddies and I played it
together a lot. There's just something fun about
that artillery-type firing things, especially when it results in
the virtual destruction of your friends. The success of
the Worms games is more up-to-date example of the simple and
addictive gameplay offered by the genre. I've also always
been a big fan of simple turn-based strategy games like Military
Madness for the Turbo Grafx 16 (which I still play) and
Advance Wars for the GBA. For years now I've hoped
something similar would be made for the PC, knowing how well
turn-based games can play over the internet. So when I
read about MoonBase Commander and its seemingly magical
combination of artillery-type firing with simple and unique
turned-based strategy gaming, I got excited. And now that
I've had a chance to play the game (much thanks to the game's
producer, Patrick Wylie, for the early copy) I've got to say
that if you have any expectations of this game, it probably
exceeds them.
