Not news... - 15:09 EST
Hey people :) Still no news to post (and believe it or
not, I still check every day), but as I'm about to go home for a
week for the holidays I at least wanted to say: happy holidays!
While I won't be updating this site from home, I will be playing
some MBC online. It's been a long time for me because of
school. I especially want to play some more ranked
games, so challenge me now while I'm rusty ;)

A new fan site... - 16:39 EST
TEK sent word of his new MoonBase
Pro fan site. It features some interesting fan fiction
in the form of a monthly Galaxy
Report. Check it out.
- Players no longer duplicated
in game roster of internet games.
- Improved syncronization of
game setup for internet games.
- More lenient time-out for
players in first round of internet games (less disconnects).
- Improved custom map
transmission for internet games.
- No more
"network_receive_array_script not defined" errors.
- In team games, destroyed
players get FoW lifted only when they have no surviving
human teammate(s).
- No longer possible to click
enemy units that are under the FoW.
- No longer possible to click
cords/units that are behind game interface.
- AI players no longer launch
illegal items from Offensive Units.
- "Skip" button
problems resolved.
- Clicking "Clear"
in map editor correctly updates map size indicator.
- Issue with Spike weapon
occasionally affecting wrong unit resolved.
- Reclaimer weapon uses
correct altitude to determine affected unit (won't reclaim
balloons by hitting ground).
- Destroying a crazy amount of
units at once should no longer cause a crash.
- Music skipping may be
improved by adjusting the music buffer pivot point. This
will cause the computer to choose the next measure of music
earlier, so it has more time to load.
Add
"MusicBufferPercent=#" to the [System] section
of Moonbase.ini
# is a value between 10 and 90.
This is the percentage of the current measure that plays
before selecting and loading the next. A smaller value
gives the hard drive more time to load.
If your music skips, try a value of 30 to start. Reduce to
20, then 10 if necessary.
- Fixed missing underscores
for some fonts
- Incoming tracking will now
properly track projectiles that pass thru fog areas back
into visible areas.
- Fixed issue with guided
missiles sometimes flying into ground.

kick my butt sometime to boost your rating ;)

MoonBase Commander Rankings! -
01:09 EST
Great news: MoonBase
Commander Rankings went online yesterday. The site
maintains a list of MBC players and, once you've registered, you
can challenge them to a game with the result counting towards
your global ranking. I'm really looking forward to using
it... when I'm not swamped with school work, anyways. A
big thanks to dvdempire, Monkeyboy, popomatic, redragon, and Miles
Teg for making the site happen.

"easy to learn, difficult to master"... -
21:51 EST
A MoonBase
Commander review was posted yesterday by TechTV.
They gave it a great review (and 4/5 stars).
..."Moonbase
Commander's" simple focus and gameplay is an
excellent example of substance over style.

Another favorable review... -
18:39 EST
P-Why sent word that there's a great MoonBase Commander review in the
November issue of Computer
Games. They gave it 4/5 stars...
- In an industry chock full of clones,
semi-clones, and downright rip-offs, Moonbase Commander is the kind of game that
grabs you by the collar, giving you a shake as if to say, "Pay
attention. I am something new."
- Don't let its budget price fool you, Moonbase
Commander is an incredibly entertaining game regardless
of its price tag.
In the November issue of Computer
Gaming World, on the other hand, you'll find a
not-so-favorable review (which Thrull posted
about a while ago). At least the reviewers who don't like
MBC make it obvious that they don't know what they're talking
about by saying silly things and admitting how little they
played the game.
Supreme Commander Tournament... -
23:09 EST
Tycho posted some
initial details about the Penny Arcade 2v2,
single-elimination tournament. You have until this Sunday
to sign-up, so head over there and figure out how to do that.
And the prizes go to... -
13:46 EST
Unfortunately, nobody... yet. The 2v2 tournament
experienced a meltdown yesterday when hardly anyone showed up to
resume things. SpacemanSpiff and I ended up playing
together and we had a good run through 4 matches on Saturday,
which was lots of fun, so here's hoping things work out better
next time. I understand future tournaments will be more
well organized. I know SpacemanSpiff and I weren't the
only team who enjoyed Saturday's matches, so Onveric's efforts
are much appreciated.

Industrial sweepstakes.

of problems.

23:34 EST
Don't miss Penitentman's
sweet new MBC
wallpapers (or his sweet old ones). Also, the
sweepstakes at DeWulf
Industrial have generated many nice downloads over there
already. Don't forget that you can submit entries to them
until the end of the month.
Interview
with Rhett... - 23:32 EST
A good, up-to-date interview
with Rhett Mathis was posted today at KernelDump.com.
Even if you've read every other interview, this one is still a
must-read.
Sweet, sweet
internet! - 19:26 EST
To make a short story even
shorter, my internet connection has been down for a week.
It seems to be sort of working now. It's slow, with crazy
packet loss, but working. Back to business as usual...

Win some cool
MBC stuff! - 17:09 EST
Don't miss the sweepstakes
over at DeWulf
Industrial. Basically, the more original, downloadable
MBC content you submit to them this month, the better your
chances of winning prizes in a draw (on October 5).
There's currently an MBC t-shirt and a retail copy of the game
up for grabs, with the possibilty of more prizes being
added. Head over there for all the details and guidelines.
Fonts. -
14:39 EST
In case anyone who's
interested missed them in the forums, the two main MBC fonts
are now available for download.
