The only news tonight is a reminder that tomorrow is the Smear the Planet event being hosted by Lith Ragond where two teams will each try to bomb the others planet's Colony Hub. First team todo it wins. To be in the event you have to message Lith Ragond for the pregame chatroom in the Darkspace Lobby that will occur between 6:30pm EST and 7pm. (/send @21085 to get the password for the chatroom between 6:30pm and 7pm) You MUST be present in the chatroom to be in this event. The event itself takes place at 7pm EST. I'm not sure of what the winners recieve for wining this, however. |

Site Update Stuff... I've updated the screenshots section with another six screenshots split between two sections. You can find three screenshots of yesterday's big UGTO invasion of Sirius in the special screenshots section. I've also added three regular release screenshots to the regular screenshots section. Rocketeer has finished his latest version of the Prestige Calculator now with added support for all the ICC ships in the display ship part of the calculator. You can find the calculator on DSC here! |
Double Billings Batman! If you were doubled billed recently, I have some good news for you... BIBIT informed me today that the error will be fixed on the beginning of next week, and customers should see the refunds within 10 days after that. The error occured on the bank side, which is why it's taken so long to get this issue resolved. You can find the thread on this here. |

Darkspace Fiction Update |
Event: Smear the Planet! Ok, it's been WAY too long, and with the madly succesful (and much higher player count than I expected, it's time for another event. Here's how it works, 2 teams, 2 planets. Both fully researched, and built to my specifications. The goal? Bomb off the other's hub. First one to do so, wins. Rules: 1. No rebuilding, a structure gets nuked, it is GONE. This includes scrapping and building a different structure. Failure to comply will result in immediate removal from event, any attempts to rejoin event, will result in a real KICK handed out from me. Don't like how the planets are built? Tough. 2. No tractor scout/extractors/any-other-ship-not-already-fitted-with-one. 3. If Gaifen appear around your planets... IT IS NOT MY FAULT!!! *end lie* Also, the two factions are... UGTO and K'luth (sorry ICC, but an infinite amount of pulse waves would just defeat the purpose of this). The two main planets will be labbeled... other planet will be built up BEHIND the main planets, these are NOT to be bombed, though can be re-arranged at the teams discretion. Oh yeah, it will be held on... hrm... Tuesday... at... 7 PM EST time. As with the Tranny Whacker, a room will be opened 30 minutes prior to said event, with a password, those who wish to join must ask ME... and NO ONE ELSE, for the password. If, i see a name in the room that did not ASK me for the password (yes EVEN you moderators! as far as i am concerned everyone is on equal ground for a spot to play), I will first ask them to leave the room, then, if they fail to comply, will request an admin to remove them, if the admins give me the go ahead, i will remove you the only way i can (a kick). this may seem harsh, but it keeps thing under control. The room will also be "Moderated" to keep the confusion down for players. During the meeting prior to the event, I will choose two team captains. THEY will choose the teams, so if you have a preference for a faction, you better talk to THEM. Once the teams are chosen, we will have a clarification of the rules (one will have been done once i "close" the room; aka not let anyone else in). I will NOT repeat the rules in chat, this post is here for a reason. I will simply ask any questions ABOUT the rules, or if anyone has concerns about something i may have missed. These events are getting easier for me to put together and keep organized, i wanna keep it that way. Thanks. I'm thinking of ten players on each team, but it MAY go more, i'm going to attempt major stress testing of the map and server with uber amounts of bombs, so cross your fingers. So remember, thats this upcoming Tuesday at 7pm EST. Have any comments? Go to the event's thread. |

More Bug Reports? NO!! |
Forum Invasion? So uh...on a lighter note...does that mean Darkspace has no storyline right now? Ahhh! We have no past or future AHHHH!!! No one really knows what is going on with that topic. If you know who did this, by all means report it to the Darkspace staff. |

More Official Darkspace Fiction! Juxtapose is currently hosting his scenario, Eta Cassiopea, during the East Coast evenings (EST) for anyone to come play. This is a map that is designed for 1.481 that can trap those not prepared with close orbiting planets and asteroid fields (you dont have to worry about death by asteroids until 1.481 FYI). If you would like more information on Eta Cassiopea, go here! Did I mention tomorrow is the one year anniversary since the big 1.476 release? |

Another day, another post... I've added four new screenshots to the Darkspace Release Screenshots section of the site bringing the count up to over 120 images in just our release section. I also have a new rant for the Ranting Room written by myself on the topic of Teamwork, go check it out here And also, Demorian has released a funny flash video called Darkspace: Episode IV. It is a hilarious video to watch, but it is a little big, weighing in at 2.75MB. Dialup users beware for a little bit of a wait. Thats all for now. |
Racing Season Event Cancelled? |
September Top 10 Fleets |
Jeez! In other news... Since this news post about Email Validation explains it all, I'll just quote it. Quoted from Faustus.. Until recently, anyone could create a DarkSpace account, provide a valid or invalid email address and go play the demo version of DarkSpace. Unfortunately, we have ended up with lots of invalid email addresses in our database and bounced emails back in our inbox from clan annoucments and our mailings (which we rarely do anyone for those of you concerned about getting spammed). We are now requiring a validated email address to join or create a fleet. Starting October 31st, we will also require a validated email address to play on the DEMO servers or be a clan administrator. Just to be clear, ALL CLAN ADMINS WITH INVALID EMAIL ADDRESSES WILL BE DEMOTED ON OCTOBER 31ST! Existing accounts can validate their email address by clicking on the Edit Profile link in their player profile page. You have until October 31st to validate your email address, otherwise you will lose access to join the DEMO servers. |

Corrections & More Also I've corrected the links in the Articles section of the site that werent working correctly. I've also corrected the links in the Darkspace Academy main page. If you find any errors, send me an email or post about it in the forums. Update: Found link errors in the Fiction section, they have been corrected, sorry for the screwup. (I seem to easily overlook the changing the links to PHP too :) ) Tomorrow afternoon I'll have enough time to make sure all links have been fixed. If you come upon a link that doesnt work, change the page extension from ASP to PHP, it should work then. |
