Play MBC on PCs with limited access... - 11:50 EST
MrBrdo posted a handy little utility, MBC Launcher, to help
those on limited-access PCs (where you don't have access to the Windows folder) play MoonBase Commander.
Sorry this update is so late, but hopefully everyone who's still around knows that the forums are where the action is these days, anyway ;)

MBC League
dead? - 14:39 EST
Not that it was ever very lively, but it looks like the MBC
League has become a Realms
of Krel group.

Moonbase Console
v2.1.26 released. - 17:30 EST
As usual, grab it from Katton's
mirror.
|
2.1.26 is
compatible with 2.1.25, you don't HAVE to upgrade
.26 only contains two bug fixes
1) Replays from console games now work properly when a
standard map is used.
2) The map is now saved properly when the first replay
is saved. |

Moonbase Console
v2.1.25 released! - 13:58 EST
Grab it from Katton's
mirror, now. It is so ridiculously better than
v1.0, you've gotta use it and see for yourself.
A big thanks goes out to MYCROFT and Katton for the work they
put into the new features and improvements, and also to
SpacemanSpiff and Bwappo and all those who helped with testing.

Ranked games
on custom/random maps. -
21:55 EST
Moonbase Commander
Rankings now allows for ranked games to be played on custom
maps. That means we can now use that sweet Moonbase
Console (links up top) and its random maps for ranked games,
woo.

Moonbase Console v1.0
released! - 21:28 EST
Great news! Moonbase
Console v1.0 (Katton
mirror) is out. It's a sweet little
program lets you play MBC (single player or multiplayer) on
randomly generated maps with ease.
Personally, I'll probably rarely, if ever, play MBC again
without using Moonbase Console. The MBC community owes
MYCROFT a huge thanks for the program. And Katton and
SpacemanSpiff too, for their random map generation algorithms.

MBC on cell
phones?!? - 13:48 EST
MBC
for cell phones. It's not an official port, and the
colour screenshots reveal serious graphical issues with that
version. "The game will soon hopefully be available in many J2ME
shops." I wonder
how it plays...

A recent
review. - 13:40 EST
P-Why sent word of Gamezilla's
MBC review, which was just posted this month. "Moonbase Commander is
a solid turn based strategy game that is surprisingly well designed."
Yep :)

News?!? -
18:23 EST
Nope, not really :) I'm not even sure if anyone comes here
anymore. The counter I was using stopped sending weekly
reports a couple of months ago and I never looked into it.
To be honest, I didn't even notice for the first couple of
weeks. I was busy at school then though. Now I've
graduated and I have a fancy Math/Computer Science degree, but
I'm still looking for a fancy job to go with it. It's been
long enough since school finished that I'm actually getting a
little bored with the rediculous amount of free-time I have, and
I guess that's part of the reason I'm posting this.
So if you're reading this, thanks for still visiting :) I
hope there is actually some MBC news to post before this place
becomes so dead that GameSpy yanks it...

It's been a
long time... - 15:39 EST
And unfortunately I still don't have anything much to
post. When I'm done with school in a few weeks I'll
probably tidy this place up a bit, but that won't be so
exciting.
Maybe I'll hunt down every last one of you for a match too...

remembered to actually post something, even though there isn't
really any news, but just so you know I'm still here and this
place is still alive...

MBC
best game of 2002? - 14:20 EST
At AllOutGames.com you can
vote for the
game of the year, and MoonBase Commander made their list of
nominees...
|
AllOutGames.com's
staff has nominated 15 great PC, console, and handheld
games for consideration for its Game of the Year award.
Readers are encouraged to vote for their favorite game.
The poll will be open until January 15th.
The nominated games are: Animal Crossing,
Battlefield 1942, Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Freedom
Force, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Jedi Knight III:
Jedi Outcast, Legend of Zelda: The Four Swords, Mafia,
Metroid Fusion, Metroid Prime, Moonbase Commander,
Neverwinter Nights, No One Lives Forever 2, Splinter
Cell, and Warcraft III.
Only one game will win
. Will it be your
favorite? |
|
That's some stiff competition and I don't imagine MBC will win,
but it's good that a game that nobody played can still win some
awards and be nominated for best game of the year.
An award from
GameSpot... - 14:13 EST
MoonBase Commander won a Special Achievement award in GameSpot's
Best and Worst of 2002 for Best Game No One Played on
PC.
Happy new year! - 14:07 EST
Happy new year everyone! I hope you enjoyed your holidays.
