6. Vectrex Video-entertainment system

 The Vectrex system takes up a special position among videogames for 
homeuse. This is the only system that comes with its own screen. This 
means that you can play it without having to use the family tv-set, as 
long as you have access to electricity. 
 Vectrex was made with the purpose of creating a videogame for the home, 
that looked like the arkadegames. The screen was tall instead of wide, 
and the games were made using special Vector graphics to make three 
dimentional effects possible, that you wouldnıt find in the existing 
home machines. The control unit was also made like the ones from real 
arcade games. You can plug an extra controller in, but you only get one 
controller with the machine.. 
 It is a branch of the toy company Milton-Bradley, that makes the 
Vectrex. This branch has its home in California, but the machines and 
cards are made in Hong Kong. The system is supposed to hit the market 
in the sommer of 83, but it might be a little longer. The price is 
supposed to be at around 2500 danish kroner, and the cards for it will 
cost 325-350 danish kroner. By now we donıt know if they will cost even 
more.
 A game by the name ³Minestorm² (Storm on the Mine) - is build in to the 
Vectrex console. For the other games you will get colored overlays for 
the black & white screen (20 cm). Some of the first games for sale are 
classics like ³Scramble², ³Star-Trek², ³Armor Attack², and ³Berzerk²-
 One disadvantage to this system probably is that you only have a 
black/white screen. The main advantage is that there will be no fighting 
over who wantıs to play and who wantıs to watch TV.
