Super Kicker
Some people believe that after the kick-off, while your kicker is off the
screen, if you hit B repreatedly you will have a better chance of not
being grabbed/thrown by the return team. I've tried and I think I've seen
it help a little, but then again that may just be because I'm looking for
it now.
Stop the Diving
You know when you're chasing some guy down the field, and all of your
stupid teammates keep diving at the guy and missing, well at least one
person out there believes that if you yourself have absolutely no chance
of catching him you should hold in the direction opposite the guy being
chased. This will (allegedly) decrease the chances of your teammates
diving, and instead they will chase him down.
Stay on Your Feet
Some people think that if you hold down the A button when you run into
somebody who is grappling another player, that you increase your
likelihood of knocking the opponent off, and decrease your chances of
being 'bounced' onto your ass.
Cycling Through
The belief also exists out there, that if you cycle through the recievers
you have a better chance of making a completion than if you leave the
cursor on a player and then throw it to him. I don't know why this would
be, but it may explain why so many of those frantic 'called-play' passes
get completed.
Jumping in the Air
This is one that I'm guilty of. Early on I noticed that sometimes guys
would jump to catch a ball and sometimes they wouldn't. I wasn't sure why
so I began hitting the B button rapidly whenever the ball was over the
head of one of my players on both offense and defense to get the guy to
jump in the air.
I don't really think it makes a difference, but I still do it anyway.
