The formula used is based on wins, ties, games played, points for, points against, and offensive and defensive rankings. After week 13 of our second season we realized the formula needed to be tweaked a touch. It now is:

    RATING=[7*(wins+(.5*ties))/games]+[2*(56-off-def)/54]+[(ln(pf/pa)+2)/4]

We used a different formula for our first season, but all the ratings were clustered between 4 and 7, this gives a nicer spread. Plus it also puts far and away the greatest emphasis on wins, and a good amount on offensive and defensive rank. This way, blowing out the computer repeatedly is not as beneficial as making sure you concenrate on solid fundamental defense. The columns are ranking, team (record), rating, rank last week:
