There is often a lot of confusion amongst Tecmo players, both veterans and
rookies alike, as to what exactly all of the different player
characteristics really mean. While I am not even exactly sure what all of
them really do in the game, here is what they mean to the best of my
knowledge.
All Players:
Running Speed -
How fast a player starts out running, and how
quickly they make it to their top speed
Rushing Power -
How likely and how quickly a player is to win a 'grapple' fight
Maximum Speed -
The fastest speed a player can attain during play
Hitting Power -
How likely a player is to bowl another player over without 'grappling'
with them
Quarterbacks:
Passing Speed -
How fast a player's pass travels through the air
Passing Control -
Good control makes receptions more likely and interceptions less
likely
Accuracy of Passing -
How infrequently the ball misses its intended target or gets
thrown away
Avoid Pass Block -
How likely a pass is to get off well with a defender in the
QB's face
Receivers and Running Backs:
Ball Control -
How well a player can hold on to the ball and not fumble it
Receptions -
How likely a player is to catch a ball within his vicinity
Defensive Players:
Interceptions -
How likely a player is to intercept a ball thrown in his vicinity
Quickness -
How well a player can change directions without losing speed
Kickers and Punters:
Kicking Ability -
How slowly the arrow moves and how far a kick can go
Avoid Kick Block -
How likely a kick is to get of well with a defender in the kicker's
face.
