The Red Baron (1984?)

THE RED BARON by BMB Compuscience is the single-player version of Sopwith. It appears to be identical to Sopwith 1 except for the missing multiple players option. Perhaps there are coding differences as well, but I have yet to investigate this.

I'm fairly convinced that The Red Baron is merely a scaled down modification of Sopwith 1 after looking at the splash screen: Notice that the place for the multiple players option is missing in exactly the same spot where it is present in Sopwith 1? The executable file itself is also the same filesize as Sopwith 1... more clues...

Like Sopwith 1, The Red Baron is quite unplayable on today's PC's due to its lack of an internal clock that limits framerate. The only way to play on anything faster than an 4 Mhz IBM XT is to use a slowdown utility such as "MoSlo." It is a shareware program that you can download here: http://www.hpaa.com/moslo

Thanks to Seth Vinchattle for re-discovering this game!
