It's Puyo Time!
Our pal in HK, Emerson, has submitted a cool review of Puyo Puyo, aka Puyo Pop, which can be found in the Games section, or by clicking Here

Other Stuff
Nothing much to mention here, but we're still working on cleaning up some pages (like a new layout for the games page, etc), and doing some other little updates here and there. A Developer page, Buyer's Guide, and some other features should be up sometime next week. Currently, the Coming Soon, Software Availability, and SNK vs. Capcom sections have been updated/corrected...more to come.

The proverbial question...Paper or Plastic?
There's been a lot of hub-bub lately about the news (reported by pocket.ign) of SNK changing its software packaging from plastic "Clamshells" to cardboard 'boxes.' We looked at the news rather skeptically, and tried to remain calm about the subject, though in the back of our minds thinking how much it would "suck" if the news was to be trusted.

Now, Sector: NGP brings you news directly from SNK about the matter. And rest assured, this isn't such a big deal after all.

In addition to retailers being less than enthusiastic about the plastic Clamshells, there has always been a finite number of them, going back to the initial batch created when the system launched in Japan. In the end, the cost of a large reorder was prohibitive. I'm sure we all agree that the success of the NGPC in the US is more important than a uniformly-packaged game collection, right?

Don't forget that when the NGPC launches at retail on August 6th (for $69.99), it will be 10 dollars cheaper than Gameboy Color, and such changes can only help to boost NGP popularity with retailers, and then consumers.

SNK has created a new cardboard box design, that mimics the features of the plastic Clamshell. It's very sturdy, opens up the same way, and has two flaps to fit the cartridge case, just as the plastic ones have. It must be noted that the design of the cases is reportedly so good, that SNK of Japan has chosen to make the change as well.

A finite number of Clamshell packaged games should be available from SNK USA (call for availability), so if you feel you need them for your collection, order directly from SNK USA. Judgment of the new box design should be reserved until they are actually released...so flame-mails to SNK might not be that great of an idea. *wink wink*

Also, we've been informed by various sources that the NGPC has been unofficially released in Europe by distributors in France, and is currently available at retailers ranging from Mom&Pop electronics stores, to Virgin locations. Info is credited to the dozens and dozens of readers/contacts/employees who basically Spammed our mailboxes. ;)

Rocket in your Pocket
The well researched crew at Gamcenter has posted a very interesting, and, ahem, well-researched feature called "Pocket Rockets - The Hottest in Handheld Gaming." A very interesting and well done look at the Handheld games of past and present. A fun read, so be sure to take a look at this address: http://www.gamecenter.com/Consoles/Features/Pocket/index.html. It might also be worth mentioning that Sector: NGP is listed in the "Other Voices" section of the article. Woo hoo!

Other Stuff
We're currently a bit busy with news-finding, site-working, email-answering, and coincidentally enough, garage-cleaning of an epic scale. We're trying to get things up as fast as possible...review submissions are always wonderful, to fill the void! *wink wink*

We're Back! Did ya miss us?
After about 10 days with no news, submissions, or anything remotely worth talking about, it's finally time for another update! The dreadful news days of summer are upon us, but things seem to be picking up...a little. To get back into the groove of things, we'll start off with a preview of SNK vs. Capcom: Card Battle, followed by a fantastic review of Puzzle Bobble Mini by Archon. Yum!

More updates are planned for the coming days, and possibly more updates today. We also have an important notice...so without further adieu...

NOTICE:
Due to recent and maddening E-Mail difficulties, we have changed our E-Mail providers to more reliable ones. From now on, please use substancej@hotmail.com to contact substance J, and Dynamic_Bomb@Yahoo.com (note the underscore "c_B") to contact Torture. Thank you!

Other things
This little news bit is a tad late, but forum-goer, Zoneman found a very cool review of the Neo Geo Pocket color from ZDTV. NGP is winning people over left and right, and that trend continues. Check it out at: http://www.zdnet.com/zdtv/freshgear/firstlook/story/0,3679,2283532,00.html

NGP excitement hits mainstream publications!
Today substance J opened his Snail-Mail box to find the shiny new issue of Gamers Republic waiting for him, complete with Metal Slug: 1st Mission and Crush Roller reviews, and even an NGPC ad from SNK USA! Both games earned high marks, and were featured in surprisingly large sections. Also, the print ad was very eye-catching, located near the front of the magazine, and was very informative. SNK seems to be putting a lot of work into pushing the NGPC...classy ads and highly favorable reviews certainly can't hurt! The August issue of Gamers Republic should be on news stands now, and don't forget to let GR's staff know just how much we love their coverage! On a related note, we have been informed that the new issue of EGM contains NGPC ads as well. We await our subscription copy.

Anime Babes...need we say more?
Our preview of Kid's Pocket Lover Neo has been updated with new in-game screens, a bit of character art, and some bad attempts at trying to find other ways to say "Really hot pics." Thanks Emerson!

Overdue Review update
Substance J's review of Fatal Fury is here at last! Only a month late...oh well. Be sure to have a look in the Games Section. Another review is planned to be added within 24 hours, and we're also working on reformatting all the reviews. The new format will provide more info, and better viewing from within MSIE

Poppin' Previews
Our preview of Sega's Puyo Puyo, now being called Puyo Pop in the US, has been updated with new official screens from SNK of America. Either the graphics or the picture quality have improved dramatically, but no matter the case, it's looking very cool. Also a new preview of Yumekobo's Biomotor Unitron has been added, this time around, covering the English Language version of the game. You can also check out more pictures of both games at SNK's "NGPC Owner's Page." Thanks to forumgoer Chris for dropping us the info

Sector: NGP hits it big time ;)
SNK USA has quoted little ol' Sector: NGP in today's update of their News section. Yes, we are now officially a "VERY GOOD SITE"! ^_^ Thanks SNK.

Other Stuff
Updates and corrections have been made to the Coming Soon section, including the addition of Biomotor Unitron 2, which is set for November! More updates planned, translations pending. Also, editor substance J is currently being held at gunpoint, and forced to finish his review of Fatal Fury: 1st Contact. Meanwhile, Torture gleefully plays KOF Dream Match Never ends for Dreamcast.
