SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium review by Bluefour
This is portable gaming at its finest. Not only a fighting game fan's dream come true but a great game with tons of features. There is a lineup of 26 total fighters. Heres the rundown.
As you can see most of the SNK side has already made NGP appearences, but the capcom side...
Overall I really like the cast. I just wish there were more new SNK characters.
The control is good, a little tight, but not too bad. The gameplay is great. A mix between Marvel vs Capcom, KOF, and SF. You get to choose three styles: Average, regular 2 level super bars; Counter, sorta like extra mode in KOF; Rush, you can only use level 1 supers, but can do chain combos. You can also chooses 3 on 3 KOF style matches, 2 on 2 tag matches (like the versus series, no 2 char supers though), or 1 on 1. Great options right there but...
Olympic Mode! 6 different minigames including standard survival, time attack, blabla, but also game specific mini games. There is a slashing game with Jubei, a shooting game with Marco (from Metal Slug), a dancing game with Felicia, and a um jumping game with Arthur (Ghouls n Ghosts, ect). Playing these games gets you points which let you unlock new supers, such as Chun-Li's air super from Marvel vs Capcom, Akuma's super from SF 3 (i think), Ryu's shin shoryuken, and many more. The only replay value increasing feature I don't like is the way you unlock secret characters where you just beat the game over and over again to unlock the characters. It takes way too long.
The Graphics are great. The animation is wonderfull, as always, but this time the backgrounds are animated too! Their is also some nice parallax in some stages.
The sound isn't very high quality, but I like all the classic SNK and Capcom music so it works for me.
Overall this game is a must have.
Score: A+++
