Biomotor Unitron review by Jagox

Biomotor Unitron... the most sought after game on the Neo Geo pocket? Well it should be! this game oozes playability, it feels like a cross between Pokemon and Mystic Quest (cool rpg on the Gameboy). Here is a break down of what I thought (Marks out of 10):

Graphics: 10
Though there is not much animation, the still anime pictures are well drawn and coloured. The battle scenes are what we've come to expect in "turn based combat" but the Mech sprites look cool and weaponry is clearly defined.

Sounds: 7
The intro music is nice, and the in game music/effects are OK. Battle music is above average but nothing special. In all fairness its not the best RPG music, but then its a first attempt. I'm sure we'll see a great improvement in Biomotor 2 ;)

Gameplay: 10
The story charts a the story of a UNITRON master fighting in a tournament to become the "Master of Masters". The gameplay revolves around fighting in the arena, talking to people, upgrading/developing your UNITRON and charting dungeons. You can choose the race and sex of your UNITRON master and partner (Engineer), and depending on your choice it changes the way your mech fights. This fact alone will lead to many hours of repeat gaming to see what the best combination is. Weapon development is another nice touch, being able to add different materials to make harder/faster weapons. Finally, the dungeon maps are completely random, so no matter how many times you visit them the items/monsters will be different.

Overall: 9
A good looking, nice sounding, well rounded game with plenty of appeal to RPG and Sim fans alike. Buy it - even if its just for a break from Fighting/Puzzle Games! :)
