Panzer General II default comes with 32 maps, made by SSI, - well they are not really made by SSI, they are not done in-house by SSI. The creators of the image for the original maps are Mike Bennighof and Brian Knipple of Avalanche Games (known for their paper war games). SSI's artists enhanced them to yield these scenic battlefield landscapes - and the end-product is really beautiful, no doubt about that.
