Question about THE BOSS |
|
Sneaky comments --
At the conclusion of MGS3, we are informed -- via EVA's voiceover -- that The Boss, who was actually an agent of the United States, would be forced to be viewed as a traitor by both countries she was working for -- America and China. Thus, she would go to her grave universally despised.
So my question: Why are the words "A true Patriot" marked on her grave?
I thought nobody was supposed to know that she was really a hero. So shouldn't she really be interred in an unmarked -- or pauper's -- grave?

No John Q. Citizen would know who the grave was for since Operation Snake Eater was so heavily classified. It only meant something to those involved, namely Big Boss and Major Zero. The marking on the grave was more than likely done at their insistence.

Ah, I get it. Makes sense.
So, in MGS4, who's grave is Snake standing before on the menu screen? (And at the end of the game?)

I thought it might have been The Boss's, since MGS3 was a VR mission which taught Snake about her. Dad or not, by that point the common conjecture was that Big Boss was still a baddy.
Plus, if BB were buried there, holding Shadow Moses hostage in exchange for his remains would have been pretty silly.

There may be two grave stones. It listed some words on one as it panned up his legs, but I missed it.
I'll try to catch it again the second time through.
MGS3 VR mission? WTF GTFO VTB
He was standing at The Boss' grave... or maybe even his own, since one of the dates listed 201X

I thought Snake learned about The Boss in chapter 3 of MGS4. And yeah, there are two tombstones- hers and one to the right of hers. I forgot what it said. We're to assume that Snake was going to get buried there, but Big Boss would instead, perhaps.
Anyone get the Patriot yet? It plays a few seconds of "Snake Eater" the first two times you aim it. effin awesome.

He was standing at The Boss' grave... or maybe even his own, since one of the dates listed 201X | One says 'A Patriot who saved the world', the other was something along 'A hero who fanned the flames of war'
