I was flipping between Beavis and Butt-head and The Beatles Anthology on TV the other night when I had a startling realization--one that has somehow escaped the attention of America's greatest art scholars--until now. In short, I propose that the career of the Beatles closely parallels that of Beavis and Butt-head.
The Fools on the Hill
Forget the fact that they both start with the letter B and have both appeared on MTV. I'm referring to a much deeper synergy. quote The pattern of maturity and spiritual growth evidenced by the Beatles during the span of their career is hauntingly mimicked in the ever-evolving repartee of Beavis and Butt-head. The similarities between their early works, "Love Me Do" and "Frog Baseball," need no explanation--both are simple yet powerful.
However, the correlation is most evident when one compares the inefficacious premise of the maturated Beatles movie, Magical Mystery Tour, with Beavis and Butt-Head's latest software offering, Wiener Takes All. That is to say, both pieces of work suck royally and make me want to blow big sticky chunks.
I Don't Want to Spoil the Party
Wiener Takes All is billed by Viacom New Media as a "party trivia game." screen shot But if you ever throw a party that can be improved by this piece of software, you're a dangerous individual and must be captured before you reproduce. The game lets you choose questions from three different categories: questions about specific episodes of Beavis and Butt-head; questions that Beavis and Butt-head would relate to--music, bodily functions, Baywatch, and so forth; or a mixture of the two.
