Melee [3.1] Moveset [3.2] Costumes [3.3] Levels [3.4] Music [3.5] Trophies [3.6] Kirby [4.0] Legalisms [5.0] Contact Stuff --- [1.0] Introduction I hate writing these things, but here goes: this FAQ is for the Super Smash Brothers series, and meant to identify all of the F-Zero cameos in them. Each game has its own section where Captain Falcon's moveset and alternate costumes, F-Zero music, and Kirby's absorbed Falcon abilities will be covered; the section for SSBM will have more, as it's a much larger game and has more in connection with F-Zero than SSB did. There'll be spoilers (if you can count any of these as spoilers, anyway) and all sorts of other neat things! --- [2.0] Super Smash Brothers - To avoid confusion, the "C" button will represent your "jump" button in this section, and "Up" will mean up on the joystick. To execute some of these moves, you need to hit up on the joystick WITHOUT jumping. [2.1] Moveset WEAK GROUND MOVES A - Weak Left Punch A+A+A - Left Punch, Right Punch, Knee A (repeatedly) - Left Punch, Right Punch, Knee, Rapid Punch Down+A - Crouch-kick Up+A - High Kick SMASH MOVES Smash A - Flame Kick Smash Down+A - 360 Leg Sweep Smash Up+A - Forarm Uppercut AIR MOVES C+A - Weak kick C+Forward+A - Double Kick C+Back+A - Backwards Punch C+Down+A - Power Stomp C+Up+A - Flip Kick OTHER A MOVES Running A - Shoulder Tackle Hanging on Edge + A- Lifting Ground Kick SPECIAL MOVES B - Falcon Punch Down+B - Falcon Kick Up+B - Falcon Dive SHIELD/DODGE MOVES R - Shield R+Left, R+Right - Dodge Roll THROWS Z, R - Grab Z+A, Z+Forward, R+A, R+Forward - Throw-down Z+Backward, R+Backward - Mule Kick TAUNT L - Captain Falcon will pose and say, "Show me ya moves!" [2.2] Costumes Costume 1 - Purple suit with red helmet, yellow scarf, and orange collar (F-Zero X) [Default/Up C] Costume 2 - Black suit, black helmet, and yellow scarf (Alternate costume in (F-Zero X, F-Zero GX, and F-Zero AX) [Right C] Costume 3 - Blood Falcon's colors: red suit, purple helmet, purple scarf. (Alternate costume in F-Zero X, F-Zero GX, and F-Zero AX) [CAN ONLY BE SEEN BY PLAYING ON "GREEN TEAM" IN VS. MODE] Costume 6 - Blue suit, red helmet, yellow scarf. (F-Zero, F-Zero GX, F-Zero AX) [CAN ONLY BE SEEN BY PLAYING ON "BLUE TEAM" IN VS. MODE] [2.3] Music Captain Falcon Victory - "Goal Fanfare" from F-Zero and F-Zero X [2.4] Kirby In Super Smash Brothers, Kirby's standard Special attack is sucking an enemy up and absorbing their powers. When he sucks in Captain Falcon, Kirby will don Falcon's helmet, and gain the ability to do a weaker, yet faster version of the Falcon Punch. He also shouts "FALCON PUNCH!" --- [3.0] Super Smash Bros. Melee - In this section of the FAQ, any moves involving jumping will use "X" to represent the jump button. The "Y" button or up on the joystick can be used as well, but to avoid confusion (and because I don't like "Y" as much), "X" will be the jump button. [3.1] Moveset WEAK GROUND MOVES A - Weak Left Punch A+A+A - Left Punch, Right Punch, Knee jab A (repeatedly) - Left Punch, Right Punch, Knee, Rapid Punch Down+A - Leg-sweep Up+A - High Kick Back+A - Kick SMASH GROUND MOVES Smash A - Power Elbow Smash Down+A - Back-to-front Low Kick Smash Up+A - Double High-kick AIR MOVES X+A - Weak Double-kick X+Back+A - Backwards Punch X+Down+A - Power Stomp X+Up+A - Flip Kick X+Smash A - Knee-Drive OTHER MOVES Run+A - Shoulder Tackle Hanging on Ledge + A - Lifting Kick Walljump SPECIAL MOVES B - Falcon Punch Smash B - Raptor Boost Down+B - Falcon Kick Up+B - Falcon Dive SHIELD/DODGE MOVES R - Arm-cross Shield R+Left or Right - Dodge Roll R+Down - Duck X+R - Midair Arm-cross Dodge THROWS Z - Grab Opponent Z+A - Weak Knee-thrusts Z+Down - Throw down Z+Up - Open-palm Uppercut Z+Forward - Open-palm Punch Z+Back - Backwards-throw Mule Kick TAUNT Up on the D-Pad - Falcon will pose and say, "Show me ya moves!" WEAPONS SMASH Smash A - When Falcon has a Melee weapon like a Star Rod or Homerun Bat, he'll thrust the weapon forward and swing it upward, resulting in two seperate attacks. Depending on the weapon used, the results vary. STAR ROD - Both swings of the Star Rod will shoot out one star each--the only other character who can make two stars come out of the Star Rod is Sheik. HOMERUN BAT - The foreward-thrust will stun your opponent long enough for the upward-swing to kick in. The up-swing will result in the traditional "BWING!" sound, and the opponent being launched off the top of the screen. BEAM SWORD - Like the Homerun Bat, the thrust stuns, and the upward-swing deals high damage while sending the opponent flying. It won't get as much distance as the Bat, obviously, but it does more overall damage. LIP'S STICK - Much like the Star Rod, using Lip's Stick will act double- time, causing a larger flower and doing more damage than other weapon- smashes. FAN - The Fan isn't very effective for bludgeoning enemies with, but when Falcon holds it, the speed of his Smash increases. Using it tends to send your opponent high into the air, but will probably not KO them. [3.2] Costumes Costume 1 - Purple suit with red helmet, yellow scarf, and orange collar (Default costume in F-Zero X) Costume 2 - Black suit, black helmet, and yellow scarf (Alternate costume in (F-Zero X, F-Zero GX, and F-Zero AX) Costume 3 - Blood Falcon's colors: red suit, purple helmet, purple scarf. The emblem on the back of Falcon's suit also changes to match that of Blood Falcon's. (F-Zero X, F-Zero GX) Costume 4 - White and Pink theme Costume 5 - Green suit, green helmet, yellow scarf. (Alternate costume in F-Zero X, F-Zero GX, and F-Zero AX) Costume 6 - Blue suit, red helmet, yellow scarf. (Default costume in F-Zero, F-Zero GX, F-Zero AX) [3.3] Levels F-Zero Grand Prix: Mute City (Mute City: Figure Eight, from F-Zero X) F-Zero Grand Prix: Big Blue (unknown similarity to any previous F-Zero track, may be original). Must be unlocked by playing 200 Vs. Mode matches. F-Zero Grand Prix: Big Blue (A Big-Blue track from F-Zero X). Only playable during Adventure Mode and Event Matches. For Adventure Mode, you must rush along the track as your chosen character, ducking or jumping onto floating platforms to avoid the F-Zero racers as they zoom past, and make it to the finish line before time runs out. In the Event Match, you must do the same, only you HAVE to be Captain Falcon, and everything--the clock and the game speed--has been drastically sped up. You also have less time to complete it than you do in Adventure Mode. [3.4] Music F-Zero Grand Prix: Mute City - "Endless Challenge" from F-Zero, F-Zero X, and F-Zero GX. F-Zero Grand Prix: Big Blue - "Decide in the Eyes" from F-Zero, F-Zero X, and F-Zero GX. Captain Falcon Victory - "Goal Fanfare" from F-Zero and F-Zero X [3.5] Trophies Here is the list of F-Zero and F-Zero related trophies in SSBM. All the information here, especially the text for the trophies, came from the Nintendo Database (see Legalisms and Contact Stuff for details). CAPTAIN FALCON "Usually a relentless bounty hunter, Captain Falcon shifts gears to become a race pilot once the F-Zero Grand Prix begins. His beloved racer, the Blue Falcon, can exceed the speed of sound, and he knows how to drive it; he'll go down as one of the all-time greats. Now 36 years old, Captain Falcon wears his F-Zero X visor. F-Zero 8/91" SAMURAI GOROH "A rival bounty hunter, Samurai Goroh has crossed paths with Captain Falcon in many a dark corner of the universe. He also goes head-to-head with Falcon in F-Zero races, so the threads of their fates seem to be deeply intertwined. Samurai Goroh is famous for his katana, and his signature T-shirt is instantly recognizable. F-Zero 8/91" DR. STEWART "Dr. Stewart inherited the Golden Fox upon the death of his father and soon became an F-Zero pacesetter. The Fox, which bears the lucky number 3, doesn't have the highest of traction ratings, but a skilled pilot will thrill at the sensation of drifting through corners. This machine requires a high degree of technical ability. F-Zero 8/91" JODY SUMMER "An ex-fighter pilot, Jody brings her skills to the F-Zero Grand Prix as an ambassador of the interstellar regime. Her machine, the White Cat, is not built for strength or endurance. However, it's incredibly light and has excellent traction. A good match for beginners, the White Cat's a solid all-around racer. F-Zero X 10/98" F-ZERO RACERS "In the year 2560, an association of wealthy space merchants created the F-Zero Grand Prix in an attempt to add some excitement to their opulent lifestyles. The jet-powered racers have no tires, but use G-Diffuser systems to float a foot above the surface. Many believe the F-Zero championship is the highest claim to fame in the galaxy. F-Zero X 10/98" MUTE CITY "F-Zero courses are set hundreds of feet above ground and kept afloat by opposing-gravity guard beams on both sides of the tracks. Mute City, which grew from an intergalactic trading post to a city with a population of over two billion, is the most famous stop on the F-Zero Grand Prix. This course layout is from the F-Zero X era. F-Zero 8/91" FALCON FLYER "Captain Falcon's speedy midsize star cruiser boasts an on-board computer that allows Falcon to control it remotely ... perhaps that's why it's never appeared on-screen in an F-Zero game. Without this ship, Falcon couldn't prowl the galaxy like a lone wolf: the Blue Falcon is a state-of-the-art machine, but it's only used for F-Zero races. F-Zero 8/91" CAPTAIN FALCON (Smash 1) "Falcon's style is a balanced combination of raw power and speed. His attacks are slow, but when combined with Falcon's high mobility, he's a formidable combat force. The Falcon Punch packs the highest degree of destructive power, while the explosive Raptor Boost can be used to smash airborne foes into the depths. B: Falcon Punch Smash B: Raptor Boost" CAPTAIN FALCON (Smash 2) "The Knee Smash, used in midair on foes in front of you, is slow and has a short reach, but if it connects, it'll send foes flying a long way on a low trajectory. Falcon uses his Falcon Dive to grab an enemy in midair and fling them away with an explosive blast. He can do this technique repeatedly without landing, so it can also be used as a recovery move. Up & B: Falcon Dive Down & B: Falcon Kick" KIRBY HAT 2 "Kirby's got several of his finest hats on here. In Ness's baseball cap, he can use the power of PSI to unleash PK Flash, while Captain Falcon's visor gives him the ability to unleash a huge punch. His adorable Pikachu cap comes complete with stored-up electric charges, allowing him to shock his foes, and the Fox ears come with a matching blaster. Super Smash Bros. Melee 12/01" [3.6] Kirby As in SSB, Kirby has the ability to suck in his opponents and copy their powers; upon absorbing Captain Falcon, he again takes up the second- cutest hat in the game, Captain Falcon's helmet. (I insist that the Samus helmet is THE cutest of them all.) With the Captain Falcon hat, his B-button attack becomes the Falcon Punch, to which he will cry an adorable "FALCOOON PAAAANCH!" --- [4.0] Legalisms Okay: the F-Zero and Super Smash Bros. series are (c) Nintendo.
