Nah, I'll not bother with Marvin, although they may not remember me so I'll make a REALLY bad constitution model and see what happens...
And yes, if you're doing it for fun you have to ask whether you do care.

Well to be honest im taking this model kinda as a pride and joy kinda thing but im not gonna stress out over it, i mean at the end of the day its like a meg or so file on your computer that doesnt actually physically exist. lol

True, very good point. Perhaps its worthy of philosophical debate whether a CG model exists or not.

LOL before this thread goes of topic im just going to say this on it and thats it. It doesnt exist unless you have a 3d printer in which case you have created something without using physical labour but more mental lol so 3d is a form of telekynisis LMAO but ive often wondered if it does classify as a real thing cuse technically it doesnt exist , MAYBE ITS THE MATRIX
Will have updates on the viper tonight I just wanna take a break for abit before my head gets melted with modelling some minor areas lol

What about taking it to a 3d sculptor machine and let it be modeled for real?
I really like this model!
Kinda makes me wonder how hard it would be for me to make a dynamic lod system...
I mean, the artist makes 1 model, and the system cuts it back for the distance. So in a game, one can really have a good battle and not worry about the amount of polygons.

Ka operates a system where up to 4 models can be used of differing detail levels, and loads each of them at different distances.
the change in detail is sometimes very aparent, especially with large objects like planets.

wow, nice. And as the flight pod consists of five very similar bays that can be subdivided...
I can get screencaps from the miniseries and season 1 if you're interested, and give me a bit of time.

no its cool dude ive got season 1 the miniseries and season 2, even thou its not out yet lol.
As for the flight deck Im just gonna detail the bejaysis out of it, like as much detail as i can possibly cram into every nook and cranny. If i got this far ile go to hell and back to finish it lol
The deck appears as just a straight kinda place just sectioned of into repeating segments so i can just detail say one part of the pattern and multiply it over and over till im happy with it. Looking forward to doing the doors leading to the areas cuse the design is really modern looking like what youd find on a sub or something.
Enjoy the update's for now I wont be updating till at least tomoro night cuse im back in work for the weekend, im off most of nxt week tho so I promise, this one im finishing then its onto the Big galactica herself, Im gonna remodel the whole thing and make sure its done right this time.

Didn't they not fire the Vipers along a tube or something or am I thinking of the original series/something completely different?

Yeah your correct on that man, but in this series the tubes are actually located in the model im making like just inbetween every second arch on the left Is a hatch that opens up and takes the vipers in and launches them through a triangular looking shaft. Ile be modelling and animating it so dont worry man Ile try do it justice lol

Do those things float or are you just neglecting landing gear completely?

I bet the level of detail on the hanger is going down well at SFM
But anyway, its good. Just start adding anything you can think of, I find its the really small things that look more realistic if you're not into putting on hundreds of textures. I'm not entirely sure what is on the actual BSG set but pipes and equipment scattered round give life to any kind of space.

LMAO
Armondikov, since u posted about SFM that al3d guy came on and is basically blowing his trumpet AGAIN on how imperfect my viper is lol. If its good enough for the other 3 sites ive posted it and the people I've showed it to then tough on him he'll have to deal with it. hes a good modeller tho his viper is excellent I'le give him that much.
Im thinkin of adding tool boxes and hammers and tables and what not to the scene basically ANYTHING you can find in a mechanical and building enviornment.
wats wrong with the level of detail on the bay man lol I know it could be higher but im working on it bigtime. trust me I wont let us down on this one if ive to spend days at it I will lol

I'm sure people who know BSG well will be able to tell you what to put on there. The launching tubes would be the best to see . Perhaps you could take a break from modelling and try and put some lights into the bay, you have some alcoves that would look quite good with some deep red emergency lighting.
And sorry for stirring things up, I'd post again for the sheer purpose of mocking him but I don't want to hi-jack your threads any more.
