I've been gone for a couple of months, and when I returned, wow, this place has changed a lot! I've noticed some of the elder memebrs have slowly phased out, and we are getting a lot of noobs. WHat does this mean? I don't know, nor do I want to.... Do you guys think the BC community is dying?Especially with Legacy coming up, and BC is an aging game... A continuation of Mark's "Future of BC" thread.

Take a look at CR Nebula Class & DJ's Schumann Class threads, these are top quality mods being released. Not to Mention the cool new bridges that have been released and are being developed 3rd era!!
We've never had it so GOOD!!!!
Need I say more?
EDIT: You want to know what a dying community looks like, just look at SFC3 Files there hasn't been a single new release over there since may. Every time I have a look at what going on over there, there's about six people online, Thats a dying community my friend!!

Well, many people seem to be getting BC every week....unless loads of people download the 1.1 patch once a day.

I think it's too early to worry about the incomming or out-going noobs.
Remember slow and steady wins the race.
BC was yet to truly hit the golden years. Unless of course no one comes along to pick up the torch and finish all those note worthy projects stated over the last year or two.

I'm still a noob, but I love what has been done with this game. I've got extensive (I mean extensive) knowledge of Photoshop, and I've been filling up my game with custom reskins.
From there I'll move to hard points, and scripting...etc. I'm sure there are people like me all over, still learning so we can carry the torch.

Funny thing is SFC3 came out after BC... |
Bah. No one really cares about SFC3 - but SFC as a whole is still going steady - there's still loads of people that model for SFC in general and in many ways theres a big crossover of modeling for both BC and SFC.

EF2 virtually had no community even when it was released and to think I bought it just for the mods

Yeah - unfortunately by using the systems that they did to improve Elite Force II over Elite Force I (+expansion), they also virtually killed off the established modding base - it's too damn hard to mod now, IIRC.

Good for you Chris!!
Even with new games on the horizon, there is still plenty of modding to be done with BC.
I salute you sir!!

Funny you should mention that. I've dl'ed some hubble pics for backgrounds and have been tinkering with planet textures.

I've been in and out with my jk2/jka/cs DSI clan. But I've never really
stopped playing BC. Its a great game with some pretty awesome mods
for it. I'll never stop playing BC. Best star trek game ever since 25th
Anniversary and Judgement Rites.
I'm currently in the process of releasing a Star Wars ship pack. All I gotta
do now is rework alot of HP's, and get permission from authors of the mods
so I can release the thing in its entirety. Its going to include all the star wars
ships released thus far, with ships extracted from the SWvsST mod. Its also
going to include some of my own ideas that the original creators never
thought of or never got around to doing.

In my personal opinion I believe that the community is dying but extremely slowly I mean you all say all of these good mods are comming but have the community seen or heard about any of them? Not really I mean I like the idea of secrets but if people dont know about the mods then in their minds they have no reason to sit around and wait for them to be released so they leave. Now im not saying you should throw all your mods in progress on to the forums because then you would have the public complaning about when its comming out ! LOL , the Supply & Demand for BC is kindna huge if you look at it there are people still playing the game just like myself. But myself is also anxious to see how Legacy will turn out , im planning on buying ST Encounters (PS2), Legacy ( once i get a 360 ) , and Tatical Assault (PSP), because not only will keep me entertained, they will bring in new life to the ST Gaming community it self, there will be new modders for Legacy im sure, and I knew how to model I would already be making new ships that Legacy dosent have i just dont see how people can judge a game that hasnt even came out yet and say that they dont like it ? How can you not like a game that you have never played it to see what it offers? Some people are just scarred of change I guess... But the point of it is that they ARE comming out and we are either just gonna have to live with it or just dont buy the game. I say give the game a chance and give the Community time to get back to full strength. Although i wont be able to help out with that as much as I would like to because im in college , I wish you all that choose to stay and fight good luck
P.S Give BCC A Chance LMAO XD
