Li'l update. Size comparison with a Danube:

but, as Italians say: Piano, piano va lon tano (Slow, slow is the Italian way) This is going to take a while. And I want to model it carefully.

It's founded in something, tho.
WWII's B-17 and B-29 heavy bombers (AKA "Flying Fortress") This ship is heavy, yes. but will struggle against destroyers or attack ships if not escorted, although the ability of carrying fighters ballance the thing.

yes, more or less.
I want to add some lateral pulse cannons like 19th century frigates, several tractor beams spread along the ship, wide-arc galaxy-style phasers and frontal and aft quantum turrets, most oriented laterally than vertically, as a real armored turret should be.
It's not even modelled yet, and I'm already looking forward to see her in-game!

EDIT: I'm gonna edit updates from this post forward, so old scrennies will be deleted after a while.

Defiant says hello
God bless Sneaker and his MVAM!

I'll have to ask the author of the KM Defiant for the plugin. Anyone knows who is he?

Update before I leave for weekend.
Beginning of the pie-shaped saucer hull

I agree with Imperial on the two nacelle design. Humbly, I think that the third nacelle has been used to death. I really like the idea of this design and it is really mammoth as a carrier should be. The Defiant-class launch bay is a very nice touch as well! I will enjoy following the progress.

Indeed. Nice ship but loose the third nacelle... In my opinion 3rd nacelles have never... and i mean NEVER looked good. Much like a man in a clown suit trying to break dance after he's snorted a few lines of coke and drunk half a keg of beer.

Very nice, she looks like she's gonna be a BIG Ship!!. Don't like thickness of the saucer, but I really like the nacelles. Good work thus far, I'll be keeping an eye on this one!! Smile

@3rd nacelle:

Well, I decided to put a 3rd nacelle since I saw the lateral nacelles won't cover the ship at all, due to the stripes facing outwards, and not in or upwards. The third nacelle would stabilize the warp field.
Although, since that point is disliked by many of you, I'll make the two options, the three-nacelled and a two-nacelled version with new warp stripes, and post a poll once it's done.

change the third nacelle to an utility pod or a warp enhancer or a combination of both, that'd look much better Smile

i supposed they had to put the crew quarters somewhere, with those suttlebays eating most of the space.

however, I made a deck layout yesterday and it's near 80 decks high!

Thanks for the feedback to all!!

Update after a busy weekend lol
making an early layout of weaponry: red bands are phaser stripes

FAQ:
Q:Why is it in wireframe?
A:Because I don't want to show the painting 'till finished

Q:Why a middle phaser?
A:Since it will have low speed, I felt like using two wide-angle phasers facing up and down, and a single flat phaser in the middle maybe with a ~20°-wide arc up and down

Q:Release date?
A:late November, not before.

If it's going to be that huge, it better have very large detailed textures so that it looks reasonably good next to normal ships. I think that the ship is way too big - it might be better to make a smaller ship with an enlarged saucer that has extra shuttle bays or something like that - you could even have one large bay on top or bottom of the saucer that the Defiant can dock to, or even have a spoiler that a Defiant-class could dock with.

I like multi-nacelled ships a lot, but the positioning of the dorsal nacelle doesn't look too good - it's always better when extra nacelles are mounted with pylons to the same region that the regular port and star nacelles are mounted to.

Just my opinions - the modelling looks really good.

Oh, man! It's CR here! I'm honored!

well, it has a bottom shuttlebay for the Defiant. I could make the plugins just last night and it works!! Razz this is getting better every time.
I was planning to release a whole MVAM pack, but will take longer because of the plugins and the scripting work, so maybe just one ship will have the MVAM defiant.
it's very funny to see the ship being attacked and launching the shuttles,

Thanks for the feedback, guys.
I'll post the new screenies here this afternoon. (well, maybe night for you Smile )

Great work. I would say the two nacelle one is better.

Also, 4km is not too big....borg ships for instance. And the Infinity, which is also a carrier.....

I splitted a Hutet with this baby, both teams with escorts. But can't stand against an Excalibur.
It breaks a Galaxy in two, literally, in one minute if handled correctly.
It's better when you use manual fire and let Felix do the manouvers, makes the ship faster, dunno why.
