I was refering to KOTOR where it mentioned scounting new hyperspace routes being very dangerous. I took that to mean that there were routes from place to place.

i assume thats in the EU? plus they have to worry about asteroid collisions and such(very rare of course), but that would hardly be enough to stop you from using it.

Han says 'I want to make sure we don't hit anything' or something along those lines before taking the Falcon to hyperspace.

Ah. There are several maps available, most of them are EU, and the one from AOTC, which is generally regarded as being horribly scaled.

I obviously like tng and up, but another cool idea was the "space folding" gravity drive from Event horizon. Creepy movie...

Nope, It's still Stargates all the way.
A close second is the BSG FTL jump technology. That's pretty damn instantaneous transit too.
But it's not as cool as a rotating stone ring locking chevrons into place.

What about the Bistromatic?
That was cool to.
Though I have to say I would prefer the Infinite Improbability Drive, since you can do a lot of other stuff to.
I mean what's the improbability that your favourite food is going to drop out of the air?
2^56-353763:1 against. You fill that in and voila, you need to take your cloths to the drycleaner.
Not that I don't like pizza and such.

I especially liked how they created an infintite improbability drive from a finite probability drive, purely by calculating how improbably it was, lol.

haha
gotta love those people that are choosing SW Hyperspace.
Its so much bullshit though, because its impossible to travel 60,000 light years from the rim of the galaxy to the centre in a matter of hourse at 0.5 past light speed.
Hell, in real life, the closest star from us is 4 light years... you do the math, theres no way you'd get THERE in hours, never mind half way across the galaxy!!
Its laughable really. George lucas needs his brain checking

We don't find out what "0.5" past light speed means though. At least, I've never come accross a description.
For all I/we know it could mean how many million times faster than light it is. So in that case it could mean that the Falcon could travel 500,000 times the speed of light.

Exponentially faster, does not require any rare materials or huge, explosive cors to achieve, does not destroy the fabric of space/time. Hyperspace>* | What do you really mean? When I read the encyclopedia it did't refer it as being differenet is just said that Enterprise 1701 ToS Cruising speed is warp6 and 1701-D is warp5 .That is all it said.

According to my knowledge, the TOS era uses the formula of V/c = WF3 and TNG and later use: V/c = WF(10/3)
According to the Star Trek The Next Generation technical manual (ditl even goes as far as to say that it means this: Terrance-Neltorr Graduated. And it says you can find the second formula on page 55).

TNG Warp drive, there something to be said for linear travel through the stars!!. I liked the look of the TMP warp drive though, Zipping through space with red and blue stripes behind you.

Woah I'd totally forgotten this thread even existed
And with ST warp I thought TOS was just straight multiples of the speed of light while TNG was expotential like the Ricter Scale
