Ok, calling all texture mechs, have I a job for you.......there are alot of great models ready to be textured by the right person, and we need this done as soon as possible. We cannot pay the modelers for thier work until the models are textured, and you would be compensated for your work, so you would be doing a great service for the Empire.....errr......for BC2.

Here are the ships that need textures. I am sure some of the modders here will recognize thier products.....if you guys already have texturers lined up or plan to do them yourself, say so here.

What race is that first ship? Tholian? Gorn?

Well, I assume you know what my work looks like. I do slightly better whwn I have schematics to draw from. If you think I'm good enough, I might try my hand at one of the easy ones. Maybe that first ship, or the baQ. I could start anytime, but I do have a few things going on right now, so it might take me a while to finish.

Ah, thanks. I see you neatly sidestepped commenting on my skills though. Wink

Seriously, do you think I'm good enough to give it a shot? Please be honest, you can't offend me I assure you.

Show me an example and I will give you a frank answer. I can do pretty well with textures, but I do not know how to assign them to a model.

I usually use model shots for reference or picraping.

Lots of veiws, no offers........I imagine texturers are in short supply as always.

Ok, is anyone willing to teach me how to apply textures in max then?

Not bad........You could use some detail work, and work with shades more in your deflector lines, but I think you have potential. Perhaps we could work together on it......you can work on the base, and I will tweak the textures.

How many maps do you use per model, and what resolution are they?

The ship in the top pic had 4 1024*1024. The second ship has like nine, but that's because I used stock textures from three differet models.

I agree, I need help with details, I can't seem to make things look like they are reeally there.

Find me some Federation vessels and I'd love to texture them for you. I'm extending my skills into other races, but I'm not too hot in that area at the moment. I'm liking the way that my Dominion Strike Cruiser is going though, so maybe Dominion vessels are ok for me too? lol

Well, I am glad to hear you are still interested. If I can at least get a few people to form a texture group, I can work with all of you to kick out some great textures. Phoenix, Tim, Smiley, are you interested?

All that I really need for most of the models is a basic texture set created. I can do the details myself using canon reference shots for templates.

Ok, so it sounds like we have a team. Great. The largest hinderance to the completion of BC2 is the textures for models.....we have plenty of modelers, very few texture mechanics. If I can form a solid team, we can all work together to create knock out textures for the ships that are completed.

You will receive 15 dollars for every game texture set you create or assist with, and 30 dollars for every CGI set we do together.

The models will get made much faster if we have a solid team working on the textures.

That aren't the textures.
TGA files are, and they need to be aplied in MAX or Milkshape or any other 3D program.

And they will be texturing models which are owned by Raven, so he has the models not in nif format.

here is a good tutorial on mapping in max 5 i didn't make it but i am now using it to learn some of the new tools in max 5 which i just aquired

one thing i will suggest to anyone trying to texture get TEXTPORTER a plugin for max that will make a good map of your maps (well thats the best way to describe it)

here is the tutorial

http://waylon-art.com/uvw_tutorial/uvwtut_02.html

you will need to know some basics of max to use but most pple with max know the basics anyway
