yer i agree mleo, but its cos its set on a continent, unlike morrowind which was an island.
btw note the way all the bricks look individually modeled, they arent but that is what pixel shader 3.0 can do, thats why i rave on about the pixel shader on the 6800 cards, because they will be able to do that whereas the x800s wont.
its basically like bump mapping except depth mapping, gives an awesome effect as u can see
check out that daedroth aswel.. its actually scarey now
and djcube.. on par with new zelda? its two years more advanved lol, its gonna be on ps3 xbox 2 and pc

Nice screencaps, altough I've seen games that look this good before (Doom3, HL2, Farcry, etc).
You musn't forget that these caps were made with a top notch video card, probably a Radeon x800 or a GForce 6800 using AA and AF in 1024x768 or higher res.
This game on a more modest system will be hell to play with a decent framerate.

I don't really see the connection between the HDR effect and the location. But that's probably me.

Actually, I believe you can get pretty much the same effects with Pixel Shader 1, or even embossed bump mapping.

You mean Z correct bumpmapping? Or Paralax bumpmapping.
Assuming you mean they combined "normal" bumpmapping with mesh deformation.
You can do both with PS 2 I think, maybe not as fast...

You don't happen to have any specs?
Anyway, I think I'm going to buy this game, or atleast download the demo.
Should be fun to see the effects in action, even if it is for research.

i guess we will find out if we can do it on ps2 stuff, but a ps3 card is gonna find life a lot longer IMO. also bear in mind that unreal 3 uses similar but more advanced tech, and the gf6800 was the first commercial card they could run it on .
bethesda wrote: | It’s a new piece of technology we have been working on for some time, taking in everything we learned in our past games. It’s pixel-shader heavy. We really got excited by doing the water effects in Morrowind, so now we’re taking that kind of care to every surface - whether it be metal, wood, stone, blood, skin, you name it. We also work in several middleware packages like Havok and Gamebryo. The detail level is amazing, as you can see from the screenshots.
In particular we’re using normal maps (for lighting), diffuse maps (for color), specular maps (for shininess), and parallax maps (for geometry detail). There’s also specific shaders for skin, hair, and many others. Parallax mapping is a new and exciting technique that’s similar to displacement mapping, but is much friendlier to the video cards. |

fraid not, not specific stuff. but if u look at the possible specs for the ps3 (with nvidia graphics set", and xbox 2 (with microsofts own stuff) u get an idea of the kind of system theyre talking about.
xbox 2 works out at about 3.2ghz processor with 256mb of ram (but its a console so you can expect the performance of a 4ghz processor )

they didnt release a demo for morrowind because its not that kind of game really, its a massive world so its hard to take a demo of it.
if ur interested in the tech side of it run a search for "radiant AI" and also check out the pixel shader usage on the unreal 3 engine.
ps dj..
close but no cigar

Those 2 aren't even close!
And is that subsurface scattering I'm seeing?
If that's the case than nobody with a graphics card lower than ati 9600 ist going to play this at 1024x768.
Man, those effects rock!
To bad the grass looks a bit crappy in comparison...
But I do think I'm going to get this game, even though I can't run it yet (I need a job!).
Ignis wrote: | i thought u meant that big ridge of rock going though the foreground |
No, I meant the lower arm and the shoulder of the knight in the image.
That's a pity they didn't do that right the first time...

I was saying that thinking they were not in-game images. This game (TES) looks great.
Game sounds amazing, also. Expecially as the action is real-time (i hate turn-based games, and i as most PC PRGs are turn-based i thaught that this might be, luckily i was wrong)
I may get it.
