My current project is making a Tyrinid vs Marine diorama. It's sort of graphics. Very little modelling involved so far but lots of painting. I still have about 9 gaunts to add to it to make it a proper swarm.

The worst is the one that gets it in the groin. Although that's only because the Tyrant is Forge World and they're having trouble casting things right recently and the claws disoved when I clipped the base off.

I've got coming up for 4500pts of space marines, it's getting pretty large.

HQ1:
Terminators +Captain, Chaplain, Librarian
HQ2:
Veteran marines + Chaplain + Rhino/Razorback
HQ3
Jump Chaplain.

Elite1:
Dreadnaught
Elite2:
Dreadnaught
Elite3:
Terminator squad + Land Raider

Troops1-5
tac Squads with various weapon options and a Rhino/Razorback
Troops 6
Scouts with sniper rifles (next to useless, but my favourite paint job)

Fast1:
2 Landspeeder Tornados
Fast2:
Assault Marines

Heavy1:
Predator Annihilator
Heavy2:
Predator Destructor
Heavy 3:
Devastator Squad, 4 hvy bolters
Heavy 4:
Devastator Squad, 4 hvy bolters
Heavy 5:
Vindicator.

If I'm feeling particularly mean I can field a sickening number of heavy bolters (12+3twin linked) and assault cannons (8). I once played an orc player who was astounded to have one entire flank vapourised in the first turn, more than 30 orcs.
I've also got a home-made drop pod which I put on Basilisk-busting duties.

My shopping list:
3rd Landspeeder Tornado.
Forge World Venerable Dreadnaught.
2 Forge World Drop Pods.
15 more Assault Marines.
4 more Rhino/Razorbacks.
More tac marines, including options.

But even though I've got this massive army, I still haven't played against Tyranids or Necrons.

Elliot and I are pricing up a Red Scorpions Chapter from Forge World and buying lots of lottery tickets. I mean lots of tickets, particularly since we want a full compliment of Thunderhawk gunships to go with it (ca.50).

Full complement... Yikes.
Those things are expensive. The Thunderhawk transporters even more so.

Some of the guys at the store I was with calculated the points value of an entire space marine chapter (not including gunships, battle barges, strike cruisers or monastries) and it coincidentally came to about 40k points.

Given what I've spent on 1/10th of that, I'd estimate £3500 for an entire chapter, not including the things I've mentioned above).

To be fair though, I'm taking a long time to paint things at the moment, so price probably wouldn't be a problem. (Which is a shame, because I got my first 2000pts painted in a fortnight.)

There are people who will drop £500 a month in GW alone. If they go for a few months then they'll save up for a Manta (could be my next CG project?) or something like that.

And of course, employees can get the stuff for free, although an almost equal reduction in paycheque also occurs... ... -.-

They also get charged by weight rather than by item, which is pretty neat.

It is indeed the truth I know someone who used to work at Warhammer world down here in sunny Notts. Apparently though they can get quite upset if they think you're buying for other people Razz

As it is my army of Khornate Chaos marines is rather small sadly.

Only really got 16 berserkers (including inspiring champions)

8 terminators, plus the shiny terminator lord and I'm also working on a rather nice terminator champion conversion.

And then a daemon prince and a dreadnought. Need to get round to bulking my army up a little, but I don't really have the time.

I should be getting a camera fairly shortly so I'll sling up some pics of what I have at some point

I've really got to get around to re-basing all of my marines. started collecting when city fight came out,so painted all the bases codex grey to match the boards, but no-one really uses that board anymore, so I've got to re-base all of them with flock and static grass. Plus when I decided to give my scouts green camo on grey bases, that looked pretty wierd.

When I get round to basing mines I'm considering doing it with fine-ish gravel. It's something one of my mates does and it looks pretty good

I'm urban basing all the way on everything I do. Battles in the future just won'i be taking place on lush green fields.

And the PVA swamp has now set on the diorama and looking quite good, I've added a few more 'nids now and just need the finishing touches, such as more 'nids.

My other idea to have the Gorgon surrounded by gaunts as well as several monsterous creatures. Then have guardsmen inside shooting out, but with several other details such as a Commissar shooting someone in the head for being a coward and such. Trouble is, it'd be massive, the Gorgon is the only vehicle made even vaguely to scale (it can just fit the 50 guardsmen that the rules say it can) whereas the other vehicles are commically undersized.

You clearly have too much money to burn Razz

Although 40k stuff does do that to you, I've barely even finished painting my pitifully small chaos force and already I'm pondering weather my next army should be a daemon hunters army or a space wolves army

The new dark angels are coming out soon.

The new Plastic devastators look good too, in one box you get 4 marines and a sgt, plus a choice of

2 lascannons
2 Plasma cannons
2 Heavy Bolters.
Multi Melta
missile Launcher.

for £20.

You can never have too many heavy bolters.

Some pictures of my pretties, sadly they pictures aren't all that great, the colours seem to have come out a lot brighter and more vivid than they actually are.

And yes that is a horribly dismembered ultramarine, god I hate those bastards

Dark Angels, Master of the Raven Wing... hmmmmmmmmm

I am so going to get Sammeal and do a fully Raven Wing army. Hmmm... rules on heavy weapons mounted to bikes?

Not a bad job on the Chaos marines either. Though did you have to name him Horatio? (I'm not complaining about the naming, my Sisters are all named).

Hehe.

My end goal is to have 6 tactical squads of 10 with all the options. Once I've got that I acn give them proper squad markings on their shoulder pads. I can't do that whilst I still have to mix n match random marines to make a full squad.

I spent most of this weekend working on a new Inquisitor scale mode conversion, specifically an Ordo Hereticus witch hunter, using the Navigator model as a base.

He's so pretty

I've been checking out the new Dark Angels, they look pretty cool in green and robes.

Also bought another 10 Assault Marines. Last time I used these they totally schooled an Ork Boss, an Ork Dreadnaught and his retinue in close combat. That was Hilarious.

And some of the new dark angels stuff is so very nice. I'm tempted to get a few of the models just to paint

Well, didn't get any Dark Angels (although I will be picking up some veterens for later, the robes are going to be very handy).

They didn't have Sammeal when I went in, so I bought Sword Brethren instead, I've had my eye on them for ages, so why not.

And finished the diorama. I'm still touching it up when I spot something and I still have to base/frame it properly but it should be ready for the competition at GW York.

I'm working on lighting. The room they're in at the moment has a relatively dull energy-saving bulb in at the moment so I have to use the flash. I'm going to try and get some done with brighter, non flash light today.

I have the same problem here Razz

For most of the pictures I've taken I've just waited until the sun's shining straight in through the window, the does require it to not be cloudy and for me to be up before noon though

I finally got round to basing my army, I ended up basing them with dry tea leaves and some gravel I filched from under the front window. makes great dirt

My current little project is painting up my chaos terminator champion conversion

He's so pretty, the big exhaust things taking the place of the trophy racks are actually zopenthrope spines, and both arms are made from bits of hacked up deathleaper

After I've got that done I've just got another job lot of berserkers to finish and then I plan to make a chaos biker unit, the asp champs going to end up with something daft like 7 attacks on a charge at str lots. And then I've got to fork out about £50 to make a terminator unit armed with nothing but lightening claws

You might want to change the settings on your camera to make sure you've got it set for close ups. I couldn't get mine to focus until I noticed that setting.
