Here is a concept design of mine called the U.S.S Century NCC-1900 Century class starship its a heavy cruiser configuration.
The pics are a rough model of what it would look like. I modeled this in sketchup 5

the nacelle pylons are very similar to the ambassador class, this took me 3 hrs to model, sketchup 5 doesnt have any sphere primitives so i had to make the ramscoops and the deflector from scratch

That's really good work and a nice easy model to start with for your ship.

YOU'RE WELCOME for the idea.
I should report you, since I posted that pic before in the graphics art forum, but you are allowed to make it.
I was going to name it Chancellor, in reference to the Ambassador.

like i said, this is a rough design, i had planned on adding an angle to the pylons since the current design might have been done before.

umm, minor nitpick, the new century started on 1901 not 1900, if you ment to capture the start of a new century with the number
other than that nice ship

Now, I onlu have two crits:
1)The nacelle struts look flimsy on the top view, I think that a straight 45deg trailing edge one would suit her better, and make her look even more though (as in structural survivabilty type though).
2)You have way too many windows on the outter sides of the struts. I'd go with only 2 or 3, 4 at most, wince they only should be the chamber below the warp engine maitanance.
I like this ship. We don't get much TOS era fan designs that make sence
P.S. If you need help in learning 3DSMax, just drop me a line on MSN

ok i know its been a long time since ive updated this project(other things IRL interfered), but i redesigned the saucer section. This pic is about 2hrs work. It sits at over 15k polys(ugg...) but I will reduce them when i finish the ship
Edit: Ugg, i forgot about not putting pics as attachments, now that ive hosted them theyre working

Heres another 4hrs work, 2 pics. I finished the Secondary hull and the nacelles, just have to make the nacelle pylons and finish up the neck, put on the impulse drive and im close to done! The bad thing is its almost 45k polys!!

Whew! another update, this time i finished the nacelle pylons and the neck. Also added the impulse engines and did some light detail on the deflector dish. Added the sensor dish also.

Looks very good, an excellent model to start with since it can be made very easily from simple primitives like spheres and cylinders.

To start with?? I used mostly splines and a few primitives here and there. This is gona be my model to put in-game, with a few more refinements.

Very nice! Good job!
A friendly tip: Remember to boolean all the primitives together before you start mapping, or else when you get it in-game, parts of the ship will dissappear when hit.

ok thanks, and wat exactly do u mean by "boolean the primitives together"? i thought boolean was to subtract one from the other, like for the windows and other things

Not only subtract.
It can subtract A from B and vice-versa, fuse two objects together, cut the intersection shape of one on the other, etc.

you should add the Nacelle spires to the bussards so that it looks more Pre-TOSish.
