http://jozef.3dpixel.org/main/tutorials/jet/texture/jet_texture_viewlet.html is a UVW mapping/Unwrapping tut for max... the guy uses max 4 but the ideas are the same for all versions of max

It's a link to download Truespace 2 (which is now free to distribute). This program, even though its outdated, is OK for texturing if you can't get a better program.

It's too complicate for me. My mind doesn't work well enough to take in such knowledge. Besides, the tools that allow you to do this are very expensive. I got a truespace demo and it did almost nothing. Can anyone assist? I have been wanting to make a model for a long time.

Milkshape works alright if you can find it, and its free. That's the one I started on. Its not that powerful though. Or 'wink-wink nudge-nudge'
