Legacy has game mechanics from 5 years ago AFAIR (As far as I read), and considering that I have barely the system requirements (2.8 GHz vs 2.6 GHz, ATI X300 SE vs whatever it said (256 MB?), and 5 GB HD space, ouch)...not gunna buy it till next year (when I have the damm cash)

It better turn into a masterpiece once you guys start modding, the weapons sound like a Armada leftover which limits alota stuff...

Love playing BC, but I'm looking forward to Legacy. The first Trek game in three years, it looks like it will be a blast!!. Having said that BC is always on my harddrive and I'll keep coming back to it for years to come. This is mainly because I love the single player campaign so much!!

if i wanted to play a stripped down version of SFC or klingon academy i would get Legacy... well i'll probably get it anyway but not when it's new and expensive and no one's modded the heck out of it so i can do barrel rolls and stuff.
BC wins... worse yet, a STOCK install of BC wins.
e: from a brief look at a friend's install, ST:Legacy looks like it's actually just Armada II tweaked to be 1st person. i suppose i should retract my commends about SFC & KA...

Tis the place to call Legacy a bomb if it's worse than it really is...a 1st person Armada Xbox-to-PC port...and reuse of ODF files really is annoying.

honestly? it would barely justify a $5 tag... and that's just for the voice overs.

You know that feeling you get when you hear fingernails scraping against a chalkboard? That's kind of like the feeling I got when I read that bit about Bakula* being in that game along with Shatner and Stewart. It's bad enough that that terrible series is even a part of the game.
*Don't get me wrong, though; I have no problem with Scott Bakula, just his role.

The problem isn't the voice acting, the problem is the woeful execution. Legacy is a steaming pile of bugs roped together with 5 year old code.
Buy at your own risk.
Klingon Academy is still the best ST Starship game out of the box.

BAM !!!
Thats exactly what I've been saying for the past 3 years. I only keep BC loaded to test my models before I convert them to KA.

Are you fricken kidding me?
Trying to sell a product as "the cuting edge of Trek Gaming" based on obsolete code? They should be ashamed of themselves.
Concoles are limited, I'm sure STL is fine on the 360, but frankly the PC port was an afterthought. And sorry I don't deal with afterthoughts.
This is NOT a dig at STL modders! Be lets at least be honest about the situation. Relying on modders to shore up a sub-standard release and calling it a "Feature" is just plain unethical (I used Immoral first time around, but that's too harsh a word).
BC hands down...

Dont blame me for that, I dont even buy a star trek game anymore.... the uncanon games began with elite force and i think star trek online will be unplayable for normal pc-users.

I have Legacy for PC, and i run the game at 1280x1024@32bit, with 4xAA, 4xAF and i get about 20fps at most, 10-15 during the intense battle scenes. And my comp stats are:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
1GB PC3200
Radeon X1300 256MB
So I lke both Legacy and ST-BC but for different reasons.
Legacy is great because the SP missions are better than the stock ones for BC, and best of all, the voice acting(Captain Kirk FTW!). My biggest crit with Legacy though is the targetting systems. Its not as easy to target a specific ship, and even worse, its a complicated(if not impossible)procedure to target a ships subsystems.
BC is great because of the sheer variety of ships and stations and other mods available. And most are of great quality. The tactical controls make up for the age of this game. Tried-and-true interfaces make it easier to focus on strategy than having to think about what button targets what subsystem when youre getting slaughtered by 3 Romulans!

if you compare Legacy with modded BC, Legacy has almost nothing! The interface is TERRIBLE! Sometimes I wasn't sure if the ship responded to my orders at all...
Well, there are few things legacy has better - overall graphic, shadows, better looking planets and space...and I think that's all.
BC has much much better weapons (actually hitting the subsystem) - weapons in Legacy behave like those ones in Armada... pathetic!
Also damaging is better in BC

I wasn't very thrilled with Legacy TBH. I think we will stick with BC for now.

Do you think that Legacy would be a better game with modes or will it be tough to decide?
I hear that another bad feature is that the impulse speed is limited to 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and Full.

Honestly, other than thw work on the models (Rick's work specifically) and the lighting effects, the game offers little else that represents quality work. It is unacceptable for a product that is years old (BC) to blow away a new product.
The argument can be made that we have been modding this game for quite some time, but another argument is that they should have known better.

Well, you can't argue that they're not being canon

No doubt. I think the crux of canon can hurt sometimes more than help.
