I was playing BC the other day and I took a type 2 danube against an
X-Wing. The X-Wing won. I always thought that Star Wars ships would be puny vs. Star trek ships. I always figured that something like the defiant could destroy a star destroyer by taking out the shields and just blowing it up. What does anyone else think on this subject? Question

people have enough trouble balancing trek ships to other trek ships let alone those from a different 'verse.

if you want them to balance out you'll need to adjust the hardpoints for your other ships.

There is a problem with this, there is no reference.
Star Trek and Star Wars don't use the same units (except distance), not for power output, speed, anything.

You know, we used to have flame wars on the subject of Star Trek vs. Starwars (or something vs. anything). Untill they were banned.

The most sane conclusion of all those threads was that they were unbalancable. What you can do how ever, is balancing star trek ships to star trek ships, and star wars ships to star wars ships.

Star Trek ships should be able to whip the sh*t out of Star Wars ships; Star Wars ship technology consists of "lasers" and other technologies that are hundreds of years behind that of 24th-century Star Trek ships.

In my mind a Borg Cube could decimate an entire fleet of Star Destroyers in minutes, and a Sovereign-class could run circles around Star Destroyers and blow them away easily. The Death Star could maybe use its huge beam emitter to blow up Star Trek ships, but I think that it could be easily out-maneuvered and taken out - 50-60 photon torpedoes would probably do it.

Hold on there CaptainRussell. Remember in that one episode of VGR where the doctor was the ECH in his dream and he used a photon canon to take out the borg? Well, photons are basically light particles. So he basically used a laser weapon since lasers are based off of light particles. Perhaps, laser weaponry in the era of Star Trek isn't practical to build and use for possibly varous reason, however, it doesn't mean that it isn't less powerfull than phasers or photonic or quantum torpedos. Perhaps in the Star War's galaxy, they were able to make laser weaponry very practical to build and use and thus able to advance on it's power and effectiveness, such as the Death Star. However, we have seen several situations where a beam weapon in Star Trek is used to destroy a planet. For instance, species 8472 was able to destroy a borg colony planet by combining the fire power of several ships. The Xindi in Enterprise was able to construt a weapon to destroy earth (albeit, they used assistance from a race in the far future). As far as shielding goes, who is to say what is more powerfull than the other. As said in a previous comment, the units of measurement are different from each genre. Not to mention, the laws of physics may drastically be different as well. ALso, Star Wars has Hyperdrive where they can get from one end of the galaxy to the other in several minutes. This could be similar to the subspace hub network that the Borg used in End Game of Voyager. So in all fairness, we can't really say who is better than the other. Infact, it's probably better to say that the power level maybe equal to each other (i.e., a star destroyer is equal to a sovereign and an x-wing is equal to a Venture Scout or Runabout). Anyways, we really shouldn't keep going on this subject 'cause it will more than likely start another star wars vs. star trek flame war. So maybe a moderator should lock this thread.

Firstly, Turbolasers aren't 'LASER's, they use hyperaccellerated Tibanna Gas, and so are plasma weapons. Secondly, It wasn't a photon cannon, it was a photonic cannon, and you have no way of knowing what sort of energy species 8472 use.

Personally I think that the different universe's ships are specialised for different things. A sovereign class is at it's best in a small battle of 2-3 ships where it can engage one ship at a time.
A Star Destroyer on the other hand, would probably have no difficulty engaging 20 targets at once with its multiple guns.
As for the fighters, Ties wouldn't stand a chance unshielded.

I think the massive numbers trotted out by both sides are ridiculous. When Data said how much energy the Enterprise's warp core was producing, it was enough to vapourise a continent and the Enterprise was just Idling. Stupidly large numbers.

Likewise, people in SW point to vapourisation of asteroids for their ridiculous figures. But then we can point to EPII where asteroids are clearly not vapourised by a pretty powerful weapon, but instead shattered. I'll put that one down to gfx limitations.

ST ships clearly have the edge in sublight manouvrebility. They also have shields that can keep out plasma weapons. Can Star Wars ships block Rapid Nadion and Poleron Beams?

Anyway, a Star Destroyer's strength is in massing it's firepower. A Federation's ship's strength is it's accuracy, sublight speed, manouvrebility and individual weapons firepower.
IF the Federation ship kept back out of effective range, I think it would win. If the star destroyer could get close, it would blast the fed to pieces by sheer number of guns.
Whilst keeping out of range is easy for 1 vs 1 giving Star Trek the clear edge there, SW would have a clear edge in fleet battles.

sorry bout last post to much coffee
but you could have phreased that a BIT
more tactfully

(thuds and bangs)

er hi ok i admit it it IS a non-canon but it is very well done
I think we should all just say "star trek to star trek and star wars to star wars" look these ships were NEVER MEANT to be put togeter in the first
place and BC ships and SW ships are chalk and chease its only US that put
them in the same game and they are based on the makers own view-point
so we might as well acsept that theres not a lot we can do about it

Ok, can we ALL stop with the junk posts? Let's all just leave this thread alone as it is not getting anywhere... but of course, if you fell that this discussion should continue, then I agree with RC, that each universe has their own pros and cons, and that the fight all depends on the enviroment, and timing.
