I dunno what to do with the deflector, she looks nice from my end...

But then, I love unusual deflector dishes. Razz

Started the nacelle pylons.
Re-worked the lower engineering hull a bit.
Did the aft torpedo launcher & phaser array.
Finished the main engineering hull. i use the term 'finished' very loosely. the smoothies are such a pain.

and i'm not very pleased with the overall shape of the eng hull though. it looks a bit... saugagy? idk... hopefully it'll look nicer when the nacelle pylons and impulse blocks are roughly in place.

I like how look of the initial pylons... slightly BoP-ish....

Currently at 6088 triangles... but those 2 nacelles have as many as the rest of the hull...

Hmmm... She looks really chunky! Good work, I like that. She looks really stylish from the bottom and the top back view as well. Great work!!

an idea of her scaling next to whatever sov & intrepid came with the kobayashi maru mod...
puts her at about roughly 450~460m

though comparing the 2 other ships i fail to believe that the intrepid is actually 344m as all the tech docs claim... look at the bridges. the sov's is tiny compared to the intrepid's. or the intrepid's is huge compared to the sov.
and if the intrepid is actually 344m long then her shuttle bay is around 43m wide. ~141 feet. though i suppose they needed the room to store all those fodder-shuttles...

/lol @ tv producers throwing around random numbers without actually looking at a tape measure...

are you sure the length on the intrepid is right in the modeling program? it looks way to big, this is how it should be roughly sized

http://www.undercity.co.nz/pics/sizechart.png

but that's what i was getting on about in the italic bit... and it's not just the perspective of the image...

initially i just imported the sov & the intrepid to compare but then i noticed that the scaling seemed wrong on the intrepid so i went online and got the official dimensions (sov:685m, intrepid:344m), scaled the intrepid up to the same size as the sov and then scaled it back 50% (344/685=0.5012...) and it was right back where it was initially... which is visually wrong... all in all not a big deal though... since as neb's(?) sig says: arguing about canon is silly... it was just an amusing oversight on their part in that no one actually bothered to measure it out.

E: today's update:
Finally got back to the upper saucer section and did the command deck, observation lounge and bridge.
Did the sorta crystal armour pod thingies on the side of the saucer
Modeled some RCS thrusters because frankly they're too easy not to...
The nacelle pylons are pretty much in final shape.

All that's left to rough out is the back end of the saucer and the nacelles... then it's down to the ironing board...

and if anyone is interested i have an alpha release for BC. no textures worth mentioning but the hardpoints don't leave much to be desired. currently a pretty even match for the koba sovereign (AIvsAI). most of the stats are lower but the voyager ablative armour derivative (currently via shield recharge rate) gives a nice boost.
overall she might be a bit too strong... i'll probably need galen's opinion on exactly how strong she's supposed to be.

Depending on how many polys the model already is, I would consider putting a few more in the front section of the saucer. One of the problems with lower poly models is that the saucer always looks blocky. It is of course understandable, but since its the most 'seen' part of the ship i think it would be better if you added a few in the saucer. Just my 2 Cents.

sorry for the long delay guys i've been pretty busy elsewhere and will most likely remain so for the rest of the month... should be able to get back into it in January some time.

so happy holidays and all that fun stuff...

@Equinox
yeah but i'm going to try and strip as many polies as possible while ironing out the bumps... then i'll go through it again and fix any blocky sections that annoy me.

so finally got around to updating this baby...

-finished off the saucer section using the updated majestic profile.
-trying to decide which if nicer: having the impulse engines in pods above the nacelle pylons or sovereign style on the back of the saucer.
-pretty much finished with the nacelles i think. at first i thought they where crap but the shape seems to have grown on me. any thoughts?

the main problem is the smoothing. can waste hours nudging a vertex left a bit, up a notch then right a tad... only to be right back where i started...

anywho... currently at 6169 polies and let the piccies commence...

And it looks top notch, better than anything I could do.

is there a way to "check for mesh errors" other than examining things in flat and smoothed modes? they're driving me batty.

i'm using Milkshape 3D btw...

Not much I'm afraid.
Fixing the mesh/smoothing errors was persistently kicking my behind and I'm currently busy working all the bugs out of my not so spiffy new AMD64 box that seems to be more interested in choking on navel lint than more complicated things like running STBC let alone Milkshape...

@ Impulse Engines
On the original model I started working from they are on pods located above the nacelle pylons. Quite Voyager-esk:

However a more recent rework of the model by Galen and Kaden have made them more Sovish by being on the back of the saucer section would be a bit simpler I think and I quite like the way the new dorsal phaser strips are layed out:

pS. on the plus side it seems i can log in again under my original account.
/shrug.

well i'm not sure what else i can do with this. i've tried unwrapping it with the various tutorials but for whatever reason it doesn't seem to cooperate.

if anyone is interested in giving it a proper texture, as opposed to the milkshape-applied drawings i used to build the thing that have been slapped on it for the time being, please let me know and i can send it to you in pretty much whatever format you like.

well i only have gmax but it's virtually the same thing anyway. there's tonnes of tutorials online i could use but the main reason i haven't really learned how to use properly it is i just don't have the time. on the other hand i've been using ms3d for yonks for editing and kitbashing so i know my way around it pretty well and decided to have a go at making something from scratch.

as for the nacelles for your ship you can use them if you like but i don't think the overall architecture quite matches. i'd go with something almost bow shaped to mirror the back of the your saucer.
