The only news at the moment is that not much is happening at the moment, there is a problem with one of the textures, and i have emailed Queball about it, im waiting for a reply.
Remember guys its will not be me doing the textures, im just a starship designer who managed to get the Repulse off a good mate because i knew all you guys wanted her so much.
Thats all the news for now.

seriously, nothing is more annoying than someone constantly bumping a thread asking for updates or asking for anything of a WIP...
updates, renderings, whatever - will be posted when there is news or updates or anything to post... bumping a thread again and again trying to force some info is not only annoying, but a bit disrespectful to the modder as it puts unfair pressure on them...

Take your point.
Anyway, think about another perspective: If the bump isn't a necropost, then it means that you got a fan. At least it's what I think when somebody bump my threads.
No hard feelings.

I have to agree with Starship.
Not only can a bump often times mean that "you got a fan" but to expound on that - it fundamentally means that that "fan" or "fans" in this case are just excited about a particular mod and absolutely do not mean to put any intentional pressure on the modder.
What a novel concept; to actually be excited about a possible mod and not have the intention of pissing anyone off.....
What's TRULY the most annoying is when someone posts something like Starship did and then someone else assuming that it's being done in a negative or disrespectful way...
Not everyone thinks in those terms.

two words:
forum etiquette...
also:
unwritten rule...
i guess you just have to be around forums like this for a long time, and active in forums like this frequently, to get an idea of how things are done, how things go, and the general day-to-day flow of things and what is normally very much frowned upon by practically everyone... especially when a thread is bumped and the next post is a second bump by the same person some time later... if nothing was said after the first bump, chances are nothing will be said (or there is nothing to say) after the second, third, fourth, etc, either... believe me - most people find bumps asking for updates or whatever to be a bit annoying...
'nuff said...
(unless you'd care to, or have the need to, continue this offtopic debate?)

Believe me Jimmy, I understand the concept of "Forum Etiquette". Not once in the close to 3 years I've been on BCU & BCC have I ever bumped a thread.
You're right when you stated that if a person bumps twice and gets no response that is inappropriate. But on the other hand, I also do understand the occasional single bump if it is done respectfully and purely because a person is genuinely excited about a mod and not trying to be annoying.
Cheers

fine whatever - we both win ok? now can you drop this offtopic nonsense???
now, as "forum etiquette" would dictate (since you say you understand the concept of it) perhaps this drama should die now and let this thread go back ontopic (as i suggested in my last post), as this stupid "debate" is nothing but pollution to this thread...
unless you have anything else to say back to me that has nothing to do with this project or the point of this thread??

did you mean "whining"? (yay spell checker )
but ya, i do agree it is so sad how dead this place is that the most recent post in this dead forum is my own post bitching at someone about forum etiquette asking for updates of a mod, and then asking again when no one responded
starforce2 wrote: |
Is there any actual progress on this thing? |
oh ffs - youre just as bad as the noobs!! if there were any actual progress, dont you think it would be posted???
you should know this by now, youve been around longer than i have...
no, there is no progress... you should try reading the last page... Queball has left BC modding to do better things, and passed the unfinished project to mayhemuk who is stuck on some texture problems waiting for assistance for a long-gone Q... thats where it is...
and im sure if mayhemuk has any progress on this, (here's a shocker - you ready?) he would post it! duh!
unbelievable...
here - this is a few posts ago, which was about a month ago:

does that answer your question?
btw - mayhemuk you should venture over to BCC where youll no doubt get assistance with whatever youre stuck on... BCU is dead and no one will be able to help you here because no one comes here anymore... all the modders and scripters are at BCC now... im sure one of those guys might be able to help you get this project finished if Q doesnt get back to ya...

i think this is a fine ship design. I think it suffers from to sharp of lines and egdes look. i'd like to see a sleeker look across the hull instead of all the sharp lines and edges. Can you try posting a a test shot of it super smooth look ?

I'm not sure if this ship is being finished at all. When time comes, he will give us some screenies of it. For now, don't get your hopes up.

Guys im still waiting on Queball, he has replied to me once letting me know he will try and sort something out, but there is a model problem too, i will bump him soon, also Starforce can be as lazy as he wants, he is a good mate, if he really wanted to know what was going on he knows all he has to do is ask me over msn.
If there is to much bumping going on i will just ask for this thread to be closed and start a new one over at bcc.
You will know something when i do.
