Let the noobs learn like you did- RTFM, dig for their own tuts, and trial and error.
Why make it easy now that the game is dying ???

Please explain how you can think its dying? I see mods being released almost on a daily basis for this "dying" game.

Some people deserve to learn on their own... But some don't it's just depends on your manners.

This just really confuses me. Why is the game dying, care to explain?! Because the last time I checked the game had a very active community.

How re-doing the main website?
The current one is quite messed up, but its the perfect place to add all this stuff.
You could use php so articles can be added by staff by simply logging in (with their forum username and password...perhaps even some "exclusive" stuff for registered members, like file downloads).
You could have a "starting guide" section, with articles on installing different types of mods, (ships, plus making plugins both with and without BCMP). Important file downloads, etc
Also, a Tutorial section, perhaps let members submit their own turorials too?
Perhaps a "mod reviews" section (certain mods reviewed by staff, to avoid the stuff which can happen on BCfiles).
The main website could be the best solution on it, and also a massive improvement for current members.
Perhaps you could make a survey about it?
I'm sure the Webmasters will be able to do something like that over a period of time, a system that I suggested isn't really hard to make.

Most of the tut's that are needed are already stickied, there's no reason they cannot be found. Experience is the best teacher so if someone doesn't want to read the tut's and try it for themselves and posts previously answered questions it's quite easy to simply ignore them.
And it's just my opinion that the game is dying- years after it's release (and it's discontinuation) it still has problems, limitations, and just plain boring. Watch how fast the community dries up after Legacy gets released.

Now Malek,,, how many new folks would have know that the game engine does not like " - "in the file names , unless they had been told,
I may have missed it but I personally do not recall ever reading that in a tut-

Thats not what I meant. I was refferring to the single torpedo system, extremely limited ability to control power systems, lack of monsters, the campaign system, the proprietary NIF's, etc. But thats just my opinion as those who've never heard of 'point defense' would never miss it.
Besides, the guy who had the "-" issue I was glad to help as I figured that one out on my own (again-trial and error).

Please try to keep on topic, this is about helping people who don't know where to start, not if BC is going to "die" or not.
As a final word on that matter in this thread:
It's not, because Legacy is also meant for the XBox, which means modability is going to be low, unless you count the ability to download extra content, which only autherized companies can do, or the messing with non standard mem cards.
BC on the other hand has huge modability potention, even bigger than Oblivion. Though, it has limits, but then, what game, program, computer or person doesn't?

Yes, why make it easy? Why not just block anyone else from registering? Why even have a support forum to help out people who are having trouble?
...Wait, why is this board here again?

Yer right, It should be easier to get the info one needs to alter the game. All I was trying to say is the battle to find the info also contributes to the info itself (at least in my case) and to have all the info in one place can diminish the value of it as peeps won't have to look hard for it, and could flood the board with dumb questions because the answer isn't here (yes, it says HERE).
It'll be like studying for a test with a cheat sheet instead of actually studying the material.
Thats just how I see it, and Cubes idea is a good one but (see above) I have to go with my feelings.

But you have to admit, the same questions every day... "how do I mod?" "waht do I need to texture?" "how do I make ships?"
Its not bad in itself, but the fact that the mods get angry...now thats a scary thought...
