O.K., the reason why I put (attempt) up in the title is because this will be a new area of federation starship designing that I'm not familiar in making. So I'm not really all that sure how well this thing will turn out. Reason why I'm saying all of this is to not get everyone's hopes up. I hate disappointing people.
Now getting all of that out of the way, I'm in the process of building the Endurance Class starship found here: http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~bridgecommander/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=21076
I can sure tell you one thing... sovereign style saucers aren't as easy as ambassadors. All I got to show right now, before I go to bed, is the first stages of the saucer. Man, I sure hope I know what I'm doing tackling this kind of a project.

Looks like you're doing a very fine job to me! So far, your details are looking quite "Sovereign-like".
Keep going baby!!

I was also going to suggest that perhaps it's not elongated enough, just ever-so-slightly. Otherwise, it looks like a good start.

Great start! But yes, the saucer definitely needs to be elongated.
To save yourself loads of time, why don't you use the CG Sovereign as a base? I'm sure CG would give you permission if you release it for BC.

Well, it looked nice until 3ds max pulled a fast one on me. the pictures that i posted here was how everything was saved when i exited max last night. this afternoon, when i open it back up, i find a whole bunch of polys that had been removed and deleted. i don't think anyone messed around with my pc (after all, it was just my mom that's been home for the whole day). However, I will have to start all over again. Ugh!!!!!!! at least it happened right at the begining and not near the completion of this model. has anyone else had this happen to them before? this sucks!
anyways, to answer a few questions, why am i not asking CG for his sovie for the saucer? well if i did that, it wouldn't be something that i originally made on my own. when i complete this model (asides from textures - cause i know i aint going to do that ) i want to say the whole thing was done by me (not for pride, but for reputation). plus, i think doing the saucer will give me better knowledge, skill and more experience in model making. so that's why. anyways, i got to re-do somethings here before i get the idea to do this >>>>

Looked great before that happened though.
And I hope that you can get it textured once the model's complete.

my one suggestion would be to maybe add a few extra polys to the saucer to make it less jagged.

Sorry to hear about the model. I'm sure you'll remake it even better than it was, though!

Sorry for not doing much on this thread, but I actually haven't been doing much with the model. The next day after having max pull that fast one on me, I got hit with a strong fever, that came with an even stronger head-ache. So I haven't really been doing much computer wise to give my brain a rest. Well, today I'm finally feeling 90% better, so I started to re-do the saucer section. It's actually a good thing that I'm re-doing it, cause I found some more sources and realised that I misinterpreted some of the design features. So far, this is what I've done in 2 1/2 hours. I realise that there are some minor adjustments that I need to make with the ventral side of the saucer, and I will see in getting that done A.S.A.P.

Well, i finally go the basics of the 2ndary hull done. Got to call it a day though. Due to shopping for Christmas gifts and getting things ready for the holidays, this probably won't get done as quickly as some of my recent models have been.

OK, I know it has been quite some time since I've last worked on this thing, but I've been gone for 3 1/2 months for advanced training in the Air Force. Anyways, here is the current progress on this ship...

Maybe ask DJ Curtis for tips on the Nacelles (Look at his ship pack thread) And Queball for tips with the saucer 9Look at his Repulse Class WIP) She's looking sharp thus far.
PS- Centurus, what ship is that in the upper right of your sig, and can it be d/led for BC?

About the ship, as I said earlier, very nice. I'd say go with the flow, cause it seems to be working out nicely for you so far on this ship. Personally, I can't wait to see what you come up with for the rest of the ship.
Oh, and DarkTau, the two Constitutions in my sig are the Anubis (lower left), and the Resurrection (upper right). The other two are just Dom War refits of the Akula Class, named the Bellerphon refit.
The Anubis is the only ship that is not available for BC currently. The Resurrection and Bellerophon are currently included with ZZ's Refit Constitution pack at BCFiles.
